03/28/21- You'll need these things to do this. 1. A powerful gaming PC. Me: Nope. Guess it wasn't meant to be. 03/28/22- Edit: I finally saved up enough money to get a gaming PC. Dreams do come true! 😁
Ok turns out I had a 960 and can’t even download the oculus app to begin with. So ya. Couldn’t get VR working. At least I can run this at 2k on keyboard.
i love how everyone on amazon is giving this headset a bad review because they’re scared of facebook using their data, but they literally have an amazon account along with a phone
Do you just use it as a login? Or do you have to be using Facebook I don't understand it can't you just make an account with no friends etc and use that
Finally someone that ACTUALLY shows you how to get it done! I'm new to the VR world (Oculus 2) and I saw Lone Echo and really wanted to play it however I was running into a small problem. Luckily I have a gaming computer and with your video now I don't feel so lost. Thank you!
I upgraded from the Oculus Rift CV1 with a 3 sensor set-up to an Oculus Quest 2 today. WOW! That resolution bump baby! Playing my Steam VR and Oculus Rift titles on my Quest 2 with 1 cable vs the 5 I had plugged in before... incredible. And I bought a 26 foot cable for like 45 bucks (it's two you connect together if you want the extra length) and it works perfectly. I played Beat Saber and Half-Life: Alex for 2.5-3 hours and the battery stayed charged enough while I played and it was at less than 50% when I started and I played around with Robo Recall (quest version) before that as well because it was cross-buy. Very happy that I got one!
Just a heads up, I dont believe I have what you would call a modern, Powerful Gaming PC. Its round 5 years old now, with GeForce GTX 1070 msi duke and i5-8400 and when I ran the SteamVR performance test it held up reallllly well. So before you write off ur pc, do the test. Ur pc might surprise you. *Edit: I may be dumb dumb and not know how powerful my PC is still. (might be the 4k monitor Im trying to run with it making me have to tweak so many settings in games, making me think it ain't as good.)
So in terms of pure gaming, your pc is quite powerful, the 1070 paired with an i5 is still one of the most cost efficient power pc's for gaming. Powerful in ever aspect maybe not, but in terms of gaming you're set for quite a while, excluding ray tracing but who needs that.

Thank you for making chapters and actually being specific and right to the point. I am now able to play my favorite games being Rec Room and Vrchat, in great detail now!
Who else is watching a bunch of videos like this while waiting for the Quest 2 to release? I am so hyped, it releases tomorrow but it feels like forever away
If your quest 2 does not work when you enable oculus link it will be 1 of 2 things. First is make sure you have installed steam vr on top of regular steam. There is a small box on the top right of the steam page that says VR. If it is green then steam vr is installed and running. If it is not green but you did install it you need to re enable the add ons mainly virtual desktop on the steam vr setting where it says add ons. Then restart steam and steam vr and also your headset and it should take care of the issue.
@@JoshuaCataldo is your virtjual desktop streamer app running and logged on as the same username your headset is and oculus app? Here is everything that needs to be running for it to work. Oculus app, steam app steam VR app, and the virtual desktop streamer app. You have that running it should work fine. If it still doesn’t work then reinstall steam vr because it may not have been installed correctly. Also put on the oculus and give permission to those apps requesting access.
@@Roberto-qh2hr an important note. After you install everything restart your computer and Quest 2 headset and set steam and steam from to open when to the minimized tray when computer starts so all programs start together without the hassle
amazing tutorial mate, I just pre-ordered my Quest 2 on Saturday and have been looking around for ways to do this and yours was by far the easiest to understand.
video was exactly what i needed , 1 thanks for the links yeah you called it and 2, great content . simple straightforward no messing around , just how i like it
Buying games for a hybrid device like the Quest 2 can be very confusing, especially for those who are new to VR and the Quest 2 is their first device. Can you make a video explaining the different options (buying games directly for the Quest, buying for the Rift, buying in SteamVR etc.) and their pros/cons?
thanks dude I bought a oculus quest a couple days ago and it arrived and I had alot of pcvr games on steam because I used to have a vr headset and I was getting confused on how to do it but this video showed me how thanks bro
"internet connection is not that fast" That's somewhat misleading. You don't necessarily have to have a decent internet connection at all, the important thing is that your connection to your router is fast enough, ideally you'll have a wired connection to your router with a very strong wifi connection to the headset. Again it has to do with the speed of your network HARDWARE not the actual ISP's internet speed.
Thanks for clearing this up! I will make sure I put a disclaimer in the description regarding this. Also I will be making a video on how to stream wirelessly through Virtual Desktop in where I will point this out as well. Cheers!
When does he say that? I must have missed it. As a new VR user, I don't really understand what your wireless router has to do with this? The Oculus Link cable only streams pixel and tracking data from the PC to the headset, nothing more right? And all the processing and interfaces are being run on your PC, AKA the headset will use the PC's internet connection for multiplayer games. Am I missing something here? Please help.
I watched this video about twenty times before I got my headset 2 years after playing VR, this video is so nostalgic, thank you nathie, means alot. You kick-started my vr adventure
If you are building a powerful gaming PC on a budget I recommend those options: AMD Ryzen 3600 + AMD Radeon 5700 XT or Nvidia RTX 2700 Super. If you want the latest budget high performance build, then go for an AMD Ryzen 5600x + Nvidia RTX 3070. If you want a high end system and want close to maximum gaming performance under $2000, then go for an AMD 5900x + either an AMD Radeon 5800 XT or a Nvidia RTX 3080. If money is no concern and you want the very best then go for an AMD 5950x + AMD Radeon 5900 XT or Nvidia RTX 3090. I also recommend buying a good motherboard, a monitor compatible with your graphics card, at least 750W Power Supply, high speed RAM with low latency and a case with high airflow (mesh front preferably).
"should be able to install this in less then 5 minutes" ive had to trouble shoot for 3 hours, speak to unresponsive nonhelping customer support, and I still cannot launch the software for my oculus quest 2, it literally just grey screens.
Thank you sooo much. After I installed all the apps I couldn't get my steam games to work. But no other video told me to allow the unknown sources or where to find it. 👍
After having the Oculus Quest 2 for a few months and failing in properly linking it up with my PC and Steam, I have finally found the main culprit as to why I was having an issue. I don't know how many people if affected by this but if you run Citrix Workshop while also running Steam, it for some reason causes you games to not run properly or at all. And also for some reason caused my mouse cursor to drift to the top of the screen when an active Steam program open such as SteamVR or just trying to run a game like Cities Skyline. I found that if you disable Citrix via Device Manager, you will no longer have issues. Just remember to reenable Citrix when you need to use it again. I hope this helps even just one person with a similar issue as it had me quite frustrated.
I’m getting one of these on my birthday and this is very helpful thanks very easy and strait forward simple to understand no jumping through hoops or extra stuff thank you
Ayy, you’re about to get a lot of viewers soon (which you already do), imma make a video, and I will need to send them to this video at some point. Great video.
So I'm guessing there's a new issue that hasn't been covered yet cause I've been looking for an answer. Set up of an account goes wrong and just displays a black screen, never goes past it on the oculus link app
