This tutorial will show you step-by-step how to play PlayStation 2 (PS2) games on a modified/jailbroken PS3 using ManaGunZ! This method shows you how to transfer your PS2 games to the PS3 over your network via FTP. multiMAN is used to transfer the game over to the console itself while as ManaGunZ is used to mount and boot up the game. This tutorial will work on ALL jailbroken PS3 consoles!
You do not need to worry about having a hardware or software based backwards compatible console, although it is important to note that compatibility and performance might not be great on a console that was build without backwards compatibility in mind. ManaGunZ is reported to have better compatibility as well as performance in-game, compared to other methods such as webMAN through multiMAN.

Honestly the only console I've ever jailbroken was my 3DS, and I honestly thought it was gonna be some insane jumping through hoops, but after finding your stuff I was able to do it within about 40 minutes last night. Same shit happened to me with Managunz freezing the system when I tried to load the game. If you’ve Jailbroken your system recently I believe programs have updated since this video was made. Do everything the same in this video...just skip the Mangunz part. So once you have WinSPC and used it to transfer your PS2 game over: Load Up Multiman Scroll To RETRO Click On The PS2 ISO You Want To Play This will boot you back to the PS3 Home Screen. From there under the Games section just click on the PlayStation 2 Format Disc icon and the game will load up. Make sure to set up the memory card a lot like it’s shown in the video as well before playing your game.

wowwwwww thanks when i had recently jailbroken my ps3 following all these steps and didn't had no problem with managunz then my cousin wanted me to jailbreak his ps3 so i did but only problem i had was when i load up managunZ it's just blank screen and says "No Games are found" when i already added games to managunz files but then i read your commet and load it with multiman and so far my game not crashing or nothing it's working fine right now thank you

More than likely it's the iso that's the problem if you PS3 is a US console make sure the iso is also a US iso

Mine does this same exact thing! It's not a black screen though, it's the blue screen with all the playstation button icons and stuff as a background, and then the loading circle keeps going in upper right corner, as a bullet goes across the screen, which I can also change the direction it goes back and forth from with the direction pad. And hold square to boost the speed before it runs out and refreshes. And select for logs. But it's forever on this screen, what am I doing wrong? D:

Had been trying to jailbreak my ps3 for a day now. Had mixed results with other users tutorials. Some things would install properly but eventually I'd hit a roadblock with a corrupt file or an error. I honestly avoided your videos at first cause I felt overwhelmed by the level of detail. Like, you're thorough but move fast. The videos tend to be longer cause there's more steps than other users. But when I started following along things started to work. At first I was like why are we dumping files and checking them multiple times to see if they match? It all worked though. Now I know the difference between CFW and HFW. I thought I only needed one rather than both. got multiman finally running. Can't believe you showed me a way to upload isos from my computer to my ps3. I'm just like wow right now. Awesome. Thanks for the in-depth guide.

I think you forgot to mention that this method works only on ps3's which natively support ps2 games, isn't? Mine does not support and I cannot mount an iso file with ManaGunZ. This FTP is awesome in just sending files! Thank you for that!

Mana keeps freezing when trying to mount or even rename a game. Is this because its not fully compatible with CFW 4.87 as it says its for 4.86.

Hi guys, I tried to play Castlevania Curse of Darkness (PS2) using ManaGunz. Everything went well until the PS2 Format Disc showed up with the 'Blue' disc icon. While it should have a 'Yellow/Gold' one. When I pressed X on the disc the screen just went black after Playstation 2 title came up. Memory card has set and Mana Gunz already showed my ISO files. I tried witg Onimusha and it worked because it showed the 'Gold' disc icon. Please help...

Nope. The closest you can get is to use MultiMan to rip the disc to an ISO on your PS3's internal hard drive.

I'm unsure of the name of the software, but you can remap the controller on games for the ps2, i did it with one of the monster Hunter games as it was a hassle, this doesn't change on screen instructions just the actual button mapping

Verify the version APK is compatible with the version of custom firmware (REBUG). I got that freeze screen, I updated the apk, but now I get stuck on the black screen before the ps2 logo.

If you're using a Slim PS3, it won't load, because PS2 games aren't compatible with Slim models.

Do everything I this video cept just skip the ManaGunz portion entirely. You don’t need it. Once the game is transfer from WinSPC to your PS3. Load up Multiman, Go to RETRO and click on the PS2iso you want to play. This will boot you back to PS3. Set up your memory card if you haven’t already (it’s shown how to in the video) then click on the PlayStation 2 Format Disc icon and your game will load.

Hi Mario! Great tutorials and really thank you for that! I'm trying to run my old PS2 titles on the PS3 with 4.86 HFW HEN with Multiman and ManaGunZ, but so far no luck. When I load the ISO in Multiman it shows unsupported format in the XMB menu and there is no Mount button in the ManaGunZ. Is it possible to make it run on HEN 4.86 or you need the PS2 Classic manager and PS2 Classic Preloader?

U can also use ps3splitter and split the iso into smaller parts copy it to the usb use multiman install the iso to the hdd and play it normaly also no filezilla transfer

Ok I cannot find any help I did a CFW titled evilnat cobra I’m able to get ps3 running flawlessly no problem but ps2 the iso will show up then crash with an error I’ve tried everything im lost.

If you're using a Slim PS3, it won't load, because PS2 games aren't compatible with Slim models.

Anyway to increase the fan speed in ManaGunZ? My fat PS3 doesn’t have a speck of dust and has new thermal paste. within 10 minutes the system freaks the hell out thinking it’s overheating but the temps are RSX 58°C & Cell 68°C

Just installed ManaGunz and imediattly I like it more then Webman, Webman at least for me, seemed to ramp up my fan speed into oblvion, Wheras ManaGunz does not do this. While I do enjoy to convenince of Webman, I find this to be a much safer option.

So, what if after the game transfers over, WinSCP says "Connection failed, Bye! (Too many connections)". What do I do then? I did find a workaround where I just close multiMAN and then re-open it but I don't want to do that every single time I want to copy a game over. multiMAN takes a little bit to load on my PS3. Also, what should I do if every time I turn my PS3 on it says "The file system on the system storage is corrupt and will be restored" and then gets stuck at 47%? I'm not about to format and then re-install all my pkg files and isos every time I want to play my PS3.

Opening Managunz after install shows an 3 second legacy bios style initialization which ends with "no game found" in red letters. A PS4 style background, no xmb or UI at all, only a key legend at the bottom left showing keys for exiting to XMB or opening file manager(looks like the menu you accessed from Managunz main menu with 🔺 button. With me it goes straight to that and stays there). Whats the issue here?

theres a way to use cds too and they use image burn

Its not working for me. Copied the file into the right folder. In multiman i have to make a placeholder and managunz not even showing the game. But for me in the system information there is no mention about cobra and multiman not called mmcm its multiman.

When I mount my game from my external hdd it quits out of ManaGunz but the game disc doesn't show in the XMB. The game is Batman Begins and the hdd is ntfs and it works with other games. Do you know why this one doesn't show up?

Mine beeps 3 times & turns off when you hit run after mounting it. Flashing red light after shut down. Wtf

I don't have the screen mode full screen option on my slim? Have checked it's got cobra on I'm rebug, have reset the entire system and reinstalled everything, can't get it to come up! Any idea? It's fine on my three phat models!

The PS3 Slim does not support PS2 discs due to the absence of the Emotion Engine and PS2 Graphics synthesizer that were present on the Fat PS3 so there might be some gameplay issues when playing PS2 ISO's. Does Multi-man have a PS2 emulator that allows you to play PS2 ISO's on a PS3 Slim without any gameplay issues with the PS1/PS2 Smoothing feature working with it?

When I click X for Mount, it loads another screen, and everything freezes. (The screen with Option to hit Square for "Boost!" in the lower left corner, and what looks like should be a spinning loading circle in top right, but it is frozen ). I'm on Rebug 4.85.1 LITE - Cobra 8.2 - Toolbox 2.03.03 - Oct 27th. 2019. Any help getting PS2 iso's to work on this CFW would be greatly appreciated!

I was on Manugunz 1.36. Switching to 1.37 seems to have solved the issue.

Just one thing I think you should add is that if you create a memory card utility is that you should assign a slot to 1 or 2 if you're using PS1 games as well(visa versa) , otherwise it won't have a save location.

The game launched and it seems to be working, the only problem is that its horribly offset to the right and any of the Screen modes don't really help either. What can I do to fix it?

I just can't get any of the games to mount on managunz after transferring from ftp. I don't get it!

I hope this works fairly well, because multi man's image mounting for PS1 and PS2 games has been really shoddy in my experience

No issues with PS1 or PS3 games in my experience, although PS2 I've never gotten to work properly. I always use WebMan or ManaGunZ.

That's pretty strange. When I try that, it keeps sending me back to the XMB. Real head scratcher there.

Im following the exact same steps as the tutorial...but when I start ManaGunZ and hover over the ps2 iso I wish to play...it doesnt show me the option to mount it...which is the X button...can I get some feedback plz? Much appreciated!!!

I installed managunz v1.35 and v1.37 and there is no Screen Mode option when you press Ps button while you are in the game .. so I cann't change the game to full screen .. I just find (Smoothing) Can you help with this?

I'm trying this, but for some reason, one of the games I wanna play doesn't work, it shows as a blue disc instead of gold on xmb and it just loads into the ps2 emulator, and then back to xmb before it can even say "press ps button". I know the game should work, though, because I've heard of other people getting it running. Game in question is GioGio's bizzare adventure

i purchased the official digital versions of my ps2 games from the actual psn store. the ps2 games i digitally bought show up under the games category list but when i try to play them all is a black screen. how do i make them playable or at least get mm to recognize them?
