Notes in the description section of violin cover are as per shruthi 6.5 which is karaharapriya Jangam. Here I am showing how I played with grahabedham. I don’t want to confuse you all so gave explanation upfront if u watched that. Don’t worry about all this, u can play with any notes , just follow the notes and u should be fine. In cover video it’s karaharapriya and here it’s Shankarabharanam . Follow either one and it will be the same song.

There are two things. You can play a song in any shruthi with same notes which is just simple change of shruthi. Basically u are changing the pitch. But then there is grahabedham concept where even if u change the shruthi, u still start at the same note to make it sound as the same pitch as other shruthi. Which is grahabedham. So this is grahabedham that I did here. Now u can tune to G# and still play the notes I gave in violin cover video. But u will not match the pitch of the original song. Since original song is in A#. If u want to play the song in A# then u play karaharapriya notes but if u tune to G# and still want to play it in same pitch as original then u play Shankarabharanam notes. U cannot play karaharapriya notes with G# to match original song pitch. If u don’t want to match the original song pitch then u don’t have to worry about any of these and just tune to any shruthi and follow either notes and u should be fine. So u basically have to under stand grahabedham vs shruthi changing.

It’s many things. Strings - yes. He is probably using Synthetic strings. Also recording, sound engineering, modification, editing many aspects. Even I feel the acoustic violin sound is very different. Probably because he was playing it all on the lower octave strings. But yeah there are many factors to it.
