Important: You have to install Retroarch before copying the BIOS files, otherwise you won't have the "libretro\system" folder

Hakchi 3.8 just works, and it works really well for the Genesis mini. Project Lunar on the other hand, which really had hampered my Genesis mini usage, has too many unpublished rules you don’t know need to be followed until you get the black screen. They did the same thing with the PS Classic. Done with them.

Haking a Genesis mini with Hakchi, has proven to be very quick and easy for me, just as I was able to do so on my SNES Classic. Good stuff!

Also to change the extension when renaming the bios files make sure to go to view, and folder options…uncheck hide extensions for known file types and you can now lowercase the bin file

Thanks for the video! This was a lot of help and helped save some valuable drive space. Also, I just wanted to point out, in case no one else did... you can use the CHD compression on multiple files at once. You don't have to do one at a time. I think I did about 50 at a time. It just takes a while...

Patton, just did this today and had some trouble with the FTP through Hakchi CE 3.9, as it kept opening in Chrome by default which no longer supports FTP. I used Filezilla and an information from an older video of yours (How to FTP and Telnet into your NES and SNES Classic) to find the host address to see the folders. Worked like a charm and BIOS were added. Thank you for all you do!

So we have an NES, SNES, Genesis (with capabilities to add 32x and SegaCD) PS1 and turbo graphics mini on the way. All we need now is the N64 mini and I am complete!

For those having trouble, make sure you install the cores first; you don't actually do things in the order displayed in this video. Once you have installed your PICODRIVE or Genesis Plus GX modules, the libretro folder will appear under system after you choose Tools -> Open FTP Client. Once you've done that, then you have to download your Sega CD bios (you have to get these on your own, it's illegal to directly redistribute them just like ROMs). After you have them, drag the ones you want onto your desktop(I'd pick one from each region that has a [!] in the file name if your download has that). Once they are on your desktop, right click and rename the US one to bios_CD_U.bin the European one to bios_CD_E.bin and the Japanese one to bios_CD_J.bin (if you don't do these you can't drag them into the librerto folder). After that just drag them into the librerto folder (and not into another subfolder in the librerto folder). If you named the bios files correctly it will let you copy them over; if not it will prevent you from dropping it into the librerto folder.

Lots of folks wondering about how to do the 6 button mapping correctly. I messed around with it and got it to work perfectly. Start a Genesis game (I chose Mortal Kombat 2 to be able to easily test the controls with)- bring up the retroarch menu, scroll down to controls, and then for User 1 I selected "MD 6 button" (I'm using the 8bitdo M30 and the official 6 button wireless for player 2), then scroll down and map the buttons accordingly: (Follow the same for player 2 and on if using more than 1 6-button controller)

I see u have amazing spiderman vs kingpin patton great game love the soundtrack i remember beating it on kega fusion emulator the end game is pretty difficult

Thanks for another great tutorial. I added a few SGACD games a while ago to the genesis mini. I was just about to add some more but I googled sega cd chd files & I found them. This cuts out a lot of computer work.
