And the grid/aoe aspect of auras and spells like Tactics games in FF series, also the split mana/playables decks seems interesting, I assume mana screw/flood it’s not a thing here and I guess staying at low lands it’s not abusable by aggro decks ‘cause you still need territories to summon minions 🤔

its interesting to me, back in the day i suggested to my friend group (we play mtg) that we try out splitting our decks into two, the deck and the land deck and at the start of the game we drew 4 cards from deck and 3 from mana deck, simmilar to this game, i was always wondering what would happen if mtg had the ruling like this and now what do i see? a tgc having this :D
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 8 месяцев назад
I think it would be a totally different game. Just for one example, the scrye cards will become difficult to shuffle back with lands that shuffles back. So you will loose something by gaining some stability of the number of lands you can get. I personally think MTGs "one deck" system is good as that creates somewhat a luck base component. If the game has no component of winning or loosing by luck (or give excuse for people who lost), people with less strategic edge will gradually walk away as that will dictate even more in the games. That has happened to some of the more strategically intense TCGs, and many have learned that being able to beat pro-level players by luck is very important for the longevity of the game. I think that this "one deck" system, though it does have the occasional annoyances, is what made MTG thrive for more than 30 years. Sorcery also has this luck base component, by limiting the cards by rarity. I think it gives very strategical taste to the game but balances with this "luck" component.

@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 8 месяцев назад
That is dependent on the spell's wording. If it just say "target" and no proximity or distance limitation, than there is no limitation. However, keep in mind that there are still region restrictions when "target" keyword is used. Example 1: Lightning bolt can target any site at the same region of the caster. Example 2: Minor explosion limits to 2 steps distance at the same region of the caster.

That whole final blow situation is interesting. Does it feel like the game is just being delayed by granting the losing player a comeback chance? I feel it's too late to start playing Magic, but i like what I'm seeing here.
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Год назад
Thanks for the comment! The death blow is not just a delay if you prepare your deck in a certain way. I have built decks that unless the opponent has certain ways to deal with it, I can keep myself on death's door long enough I can get him! So it adds another layer of deck design requirements; you need to add several methods to finish off your opponent. No game is too late to start, but it is certainly great to start playing an emerging game! Hope you try and enjoy the realm of Sorcery!

Very interesting, this is quite similar to a game I was designing, but I very much like how you implemented the mana system. What I don't like though is the lack of visual representation for what ways cards can attack, but maybe It is my mistake or I am missing some thing?
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 9 месяцев назад
So all units can attack in adjacent directions by default and there are no differentiation, that is why you don't have visual representation of the direction it can attack. There are some like airborne that can attack diagonal but that is defined as a special ability. BTW, I am not the one who designed the game! It is Erik's Curiosa that designed it.

God damn it, I was enjoying everything until you said that creatures deal damage and can take damage based on only one value, instead of having separated values for attack and defense. I hate this simplistic way of defining attack and defense for creatures. So I'm going to pass this game, which is a real shame.. I was really enjoying its ideas until then 😢😢😢
@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Год назад
Chess or Shogi is all 1/1 First strike creatures (or whatever the classification is). Does that make chess a simplistic game? Not even close. The depth of the game comes from the tactical positioning of the cards, and that itself gives so much complexity and thinking to the game. So I wish you TRY the game first and think what makes this game before you make your final decision. Have a great day!
@blenga2
@blenga2 Год назад
@Wizards' Den I just considered it to be a missed opportunity with respect to what I was imagining that would make it the perfect game. Having different attack/defense values would be so amazing for strategy depth, it would make me want to buy everything from this game, and not having this brings a lot of restrictions with respect to what I was thinking. Imagine a turtle creature, for instance. It would have a huge defense, but almost no attack. Imagine a scorpion creature, for instance. It would cause a big damage from its attacks, but it's very fragile, and would have very little defense. It could be very tactical to have defensive creatures in some places, and more offensive creatures in other places.. My message came from my disappointment of not having this depth I was imagining while I was watching the video. I didn't discard the game totally though, I just sent it to lower levels of priority with respect to other games. But I will watch more of it before coming to a final decision. Cheers.

@wizardsden666
@wizardsden666 Год назад
Coming from a MTG background myself, it actually makes it more easier to learn. If you only look at the surface of the game, like the terminology, you will not realize how deep and different the game is from MTG. But if you play it, you will realize it is a completely different game with much more complex interaction. Hope you try it out!
@tims8326
@tims8326 8 месяцев назад
Don't agree. I find myself translating everything into MTG terminology and I suspect 99.9% of people do the same.... genesis = etb for example. More congruence would make the game easier to learn, but I suppose would be too cheeky.
