In this video Matthew goes over how to use Split Screen in Halo the Master Chief Collection.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of first-person shooter video games in the Halo series remade for the Xbox One. Released in November 2014, The Master Chief Collection was primarily developed by 343 Industries and published by Microsoft Studios. The collection consists of the original trilogy developed by Bungie-Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, and Halo 3-along with Halo 4, the first of three planned installments from 343 Industries.

It really does show the importance of good ui. If most people need this video just to play splitscreen, then they need to redesign it

💯 this comment. The current GUI’s in Halo games and even the Xbox series S & X are so much more convoluted than the first gen model and menu design of 2001.

@@Ocean_Ave oh yes, we spent the better portion of a month just trying to navigate the operating system and gaming menus effectively. I will say the *two* saving graces with the X however are it’s truly excellent backwards compatibility going all-the-way back to many 1st gen titles from 20 years ago, and the excellent keyboard and mouse support in select games. My friend from middle school who now lives across the country with his spouse and I can legitimately play full on RTS games with one another on console like Company of Heroes, Halo War’s, Anno, and February of 23’ Age of Empires IV which when we were kids, II was our jam. But outside of that, the current state of triple-AAA games with their incomplete launches, and copious micro transactions is abysmal.

How can you do this, the other player/controller isn't even appearing on the roster menu, just the first one. It doesnt appear to "JOIN" even with both controllers on.

Why is it so damn difficult to figure out how to play games in 2 player local. Back in the day all you had to do is pick up the controllers and play.. Now you have to have accounts, emails, profiles, and a damn masters degree to make it work.

does this still work? i tried it today with 2 controllers but only one controller can be active at a time so when im in the menu screen, only controller 1 can move the selections. so pressing X (or square in my case, ps5 controller) on controller 2 does not work unless im missing a step

just so u know guys when u play split screen in halo 4 instead of 60fps it will be only 30fps for split screen I'm not sure about the other halos in the master chief collection though

When I start the game and get to the menus, I pressed A to join on the other controller, signed in as a guest with the little brackets next to my first controllers account. But then another master chief head doesn't show up to show the other controller is recognized. and there's and no split screen shows up when I choose a game campaign. Do I need to be online even though it's an offline local multiplayer? Do I need to make another account? Please help!

I found out how to fix it. Yes you need to be connected to the internet. Also, you need to update each of your controllers, the game, and your system for it to work. (I found this out after 3 days of updating :(. )

+Melissa _ Make sure the controller is synced to the x box, it should be in front of the controller. Then make sure your online.

Does this work for all 4 (5 if you bought ODST) campaigns? If I recall correctly local splitscreen went away in Halo 4, I just haven't an extra controller at the moment to test if even Halo 4's campaign in MCC is splitscreen.

So I bought the master chief collection and when I go to to customize it only lets me customize the HCE spartan and the original halo 2 spartan and elite. It does not even show the halo 2 anniversary customization option and same goes for Halo 3 and 4, as for splitscreen multiplayer it will only let me play HCE and Halo 2, H2A,Halo 3 and 4 do not even show as well. I recently moved and have no internet in the house for the moment I suspect that might have something to do with it, could someone help me clear out these issues I would very much appreciate it.
