I legit watched almost this whole video before realizing it was satire. I was looking for an actual tutorial! Can someone explain the joke to me? Is this roasting Stardew Valley for it's non-competitiveness?

Glad I read this. I was just about to add a second video correction to my upcoming comment and thought I'd glance if someone had done this already. The second mistake was putting rocks down everywhere. The first was calling Stardew Valley an island although the Tom Nook card sat there on the board was at least a sly joke. If the whole thing is a joke that's a shame! Luckily there are other videos with legit guidance. I think it's more a parody of Animal Crossing than the board game, since seasons being in realtime is an Animal Crossing thing, the anthropomorphic animals vs real animals paradox, and time traveling by changing the clocks.

Like others, I find your video funny but I was looking for a How to play video before going to my friend’s house who has the game. I stumble into your video first, listen to it all and felt confused. I played both video games (Animal Crossing and Stardew valley). You should really change your title (like others said before) for fake, joke or Satire. I put a dislike. Even though you seems like a really good youtuber, that waste a time for the only 15 minutes break I had to learn the game in my day, cost you a subscriber. It was a fake and not announced that way. Very misleading. 👎🏻

I rarely comment on youtube videos, but felt I should here. I was trying to show my wife a how to play to see if she would like this game, and stumbled into this, happy with the idea of a shorter summary. She plays animal crossing, and was immediately excited about these characters in this game, whereas I was simply confused, having never actually played the stardew valley game yet. In short, some sort of tag like [humor] or [satire] in the title would have spared me a lot of confusion.

Same thing... I thought I was really confused... Why does it say animal crossing and have those characters and wait but that's stardew valley... Why are you doing this to me! LOL I completely agree that the title should have said something or at least he should have started the video saying what he was doing, not just act like he's showing you how to play stardew valley.

Agree. Just add "(an animal crossing parody)" to the title to make it super clear. Or if yu really want to dupe people into watching your video, be descriptive in the video description. Luckily I already know how to play the game and was about to start correcting mistakes in the video...

OMG! I opened and watched the video expecting it to be a quick tutorial. When the KK Slider card showed up, I paused and said to my friend: "Ok, this tutorial is very confusing, let's just try to play while reading the manual". Every page I finished reading, I understood more and more that I was completely made a fool. *tears*

A lot of my friends live in different parts of the country. Is it possible for us each to have our own copy of the game to play, but send our character by mail, collect things from their game, and have them mail my character back?

This confused the heck out of me. Never played SDV but have played AC. My buddy tells me we’re playing this game for our weekly board game night and goes through lengths to tell me it’s not like Animal Crossing. Watched this video and immediately text him “wtf are you making me play?” Funny, but just put a damn disclaimer somewhere lol

I tried your time travelling tip by setting the clocks back in my house. IT WORKED. But maybe too well. I time travelled back to before you made this video and I forgot everything you said, so I had to wait a cumbersome additional 12 hours for you to (re-?)release the video so I could learn how to play again. Apparently RU-vid makes you wait until a video is released until you can comment on it. They obviously need your time travel technology themselves.

It’s a shame people looking for actual help to play can’t see the dislikes. Otherwise people could see that this is not a “how to” video like it says, but rather a “satire” video. I’m leaving a dislike because the video is listed as a “how to”, but is instead a “satire”. I however do appreciate the satire of the video.

Yeah, I came looking for genuine info on the game and felt pretty confused/frustrated that he wasn’t explaining why there are Animal Crossing characters?? I guess it’s kinda cutesy, but it’s not an entertaining video, even as a joke

Definitely an accurate summary of Animal Crossing, which is somewhat similar to Stardew Valley. And aside from some inconsistencies or unclear rules that might exist, these rules are probably closer to the Stardew Valley experience than the rules in the rulebook. Too bad those Animal Crossing cards aren't always easy to find (and of course have to be bought separately from the board game here.

Playing the game with a friend's online. Googled "how to play" to send them the link so I didn't have to go over every rule myself. Got a wtf? Response. They were like ummmmm they stole animal crossing characters. I haven't actually watched the video untill now. Very annoyed the title doesn't say " fake" or "home made 4ules" cause it just caused a ridiculous amount of confusion and I ended up having to teach them all anyways, which is very difficult with lockdown .

Whilst this might seem like an original board game, I suspect that it is a complete rip-off of a popular video game. There's a few elements that gave it away: the townsfolk, the museum, the happy idyllic lifestyle, the simulation of a day to day life. I can't believe that they took all the ideas from Crusader Kings 2 and just pretended like they made them up.

This is literally stardew Valley with animal crossing as an expansion, both are close enough anyway so I'll be honest with you I feel like this is probably close enough to the rules anyway, gonna buy and play this way for sure. Btw, Do I need all the clocks in my house to be set to the time I want or only the analog ones?

I legit looked at this and thought it included Animal Crossing characters and thought it was a perfect game for my son. I also thought it was an open world game. I have since bought the game and realise this is not the game. I was so confused until coming back here and reading the comments. It would have been helpful for you to have put in the title that this was satire. I am giving it a dislike because of this.
