Hi guys, could you make a video on how to adjust strategy to different rake structures (high rake, low rake, no flop no drop, time rake, etc.)? It's a topic that I feel gets brushed over too easily. Thanks!
I moved to the Philippines to retire from Las Vegas. I don't play live often because it's a 3 hr drive for me. But when I do I am AMAZED how big the rake is! 25p-50p (basically 50c/$1.00) blinds is 10% max 300p. That's 6bb max rake! 50p-100p (basically $1-$2) blinds is 10% 400p max, or 4bb, but that's still nearly $8! 100-200p (basically $2-$4) blinds is 10% 500p max (I think?, can't recall). or $10usd. That's CRAZY high rake for a country that pays employees about $10 per DAY!
That's an amazing result! You bloated the pot to $280+ while holding kings. Variance is going to be very high in a game like that. You really have to buckle up and prepare for some crazy swings. Check out our article about playing with a button straddle upswingpoker.com/button-straddle/ It doesn't talk about playing vs 5x straddles, specifically. You'll have to play even more conservatively than the article suggests given such a big straddle.
Games with button straddles are fairly common now. Why hasn't anybody programmed a preflop solver to output some GTO ranges allowing for a (2bb) button straddle?
