In this video I demonstrate how to play the song Summer of 69 by Bryan Adams. This song is a timeless classic that has some fun guitar parts that are great to learn whether you are a beginner or an experienced guitarist. In this lesson I show how to play all the parts including the guitar solo.

"Summer of '69" is a song recorded by the Canadian singer Bryan Adams from his fourth album, Reckless. It is an up-tempo rock song about a dilemma between settling down or trying to become a rock star. The track was written by Adams and his longtime songwriting collaborator Jim Vallance. "Summer of '69" was produced by Adams and Bob Clearmountain. "Summer of '69" was released in June 1985 under A&M Records as the fourth single from Reckless.[1] According to later claims by Adams, the title is a reference to the sex position, not the year, but Vallance disputes this.

lol brings back a lot of memories. Up here in Canada the legal bar age was 18. I snuck into a bar when I was 16 because Bryan Adam’s was making a name for himself and wouldn’t be playing in bars too much longer. It was tiny little bar but it was a great night. Thanks Marty

Totally agree, beautifully subtle guitarist. When you watch him with a sis inlaw who doesn't appreciate musicianship and she comes out and says the guitarist is amazing, you've done something alright!! Love him.

Dude! Like the 3rd song in a row I am covering. I take the ending solo out for a ride. We don't have keys, so I kick on the Red channel of the 5150 and mute the chorus arps. the crowd seems to love this

Marty, I'm a fan of BA, the last show that came to Buenos Aires Argentina, had already concluded its electric set list and the acoustic was hung up, I shouted from row 20 'Summer of 69'... he paused, looked at the band and Summer played...amazing

Amazing song, amazing album - it takes me back to my high school years 😀 Only comment is if you watch Bryan Adams live, he’s not playing a D5 and A5 chord, he is playing down at the nut (as you describe it), but hitting only the D/G/B strings for the D chord. As you chug/palm mute the chord you then want to hit the open A string for one note then back to the D/G/B strings. Happy to stand corrected but that’s how he seems to play it when I’ve seen him live…

Marty, love your channel. Just be aware I’ve seen several RU-vidrs say Bryan Adams has gone the way of Don Henley and taking down and/or copyright strikes. Might be worth looking into this. I don’t know how true it is but that’s what I’ve heard. Anyway, I love your content and teaching style!
