Thanks a lot man! On any boring or lonely night, I can always ~ by Gods strength, pick up my acoustic guitar and take some time and learn some real, super cool tunes. And you make them soo accessible by showing us the chords that make it super easy to learn! Now, it's the muscle memory that takes some time to get down while you try to play it in time. During this lockdown time though, I thought I would be good to take the time it takes to finally learn travis-picking. It seems if you can learn that, you can make any chord sound good! But thanks again for making my (and probley everyone else's) time fly by productively by expanding my mental playlist of tunes to go through on my guitar!!! God bless you brotha!

Thank you for make these tutorials. I played when I was younger but not in many years and now I'm thinking of starting up again thanks, in part to your videos. Hey, the only one I could annoy is my dog! Suggestion box: Could you do a tutorial on vibrato and bends? I've always had problems in that area and could never quite get it. I tried playing again after a long break some years ago and, like when I was younger, I _still_ couldn't get it. Thanks!
@jeffreymcmillan3422
@jeffreymcmillan3422 4 года назад
(I know I'm not who you're asking, but this is my 2 cents) With bends you're looking at a full or half step bend. Try picking any string & fret and playing the full step up, then bending to the full step up. You'll hear it match, right? Same thing with a half-step. Then it's just practice. So what I've done is to play a scale but use a bend for 1 of the scale degrees. The context of playing the bend in a scale really helps me 'hear' the full step in the bend.

Look that's good to know you're here, I'll be back when I find a capo. LOL look man I've never even known the cable I'm not going to lie but I need one because I have like the Pink Floyd The Wall type book and a good number of things that I never did completely Master because I needed cable. But don't nobody break my balls too much because I did learn how to do a whole bunch of different tunings at most people don't do. I learned how to play with a slide correctly which everybody wants to play guitar around my area none of them hardly any of them can play slide correctly they buy glass ones they break and drop them all time I had to stainless steel was right perfectly clear great clarity. But the brass was is smooth and his golden sounding as it looked. I don't care all three in the glass once and I accidentally Break Stuff anyways unless it is typically made of metal. Only real smooth fretless bass player and people play a few other instruments get down fact that when you're playing the slide you have to stop right on the front wire right in between the actual Frets themselves but on a slide my brother man he just he's a genius guitar player. He's unbelievable I mean got to learn how to play Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix and Red Hot Chili Peppers all sorts of stuff within a very short amount of time all sorts of guitar players more advanced than us were quite Blown Away.. I'm not an actual guitarist like that it took me awhile but when I play something like Immigrant Song or When the Levee Breaks or cashmere I got the tuning, the strumming everything down as much as anybody could. But it's hard for me to try to do something crazy like eruption then my brother can his fingers are just like extreme. The Dimebag Darrell solos I have trouble with stuff like that. I've learned how to play with my fingers well and learn how to play slide pretty well. Sultans of Swing solos are my best. But this finger picking this style of finger picking is a bit beyond me. I was just learning some of the guitar riffs to Rhiannon. And it's just insane. Definitely don't see Landslide coming anytime soon. But I really do want to get this down and a couple others. I used to have an analog synthesizer that's actually perfect for somebody's guitar parts on dreams, gypsy, and you make love and fun he uses some kind of volume pedal sometimes and you can hear it through a good number of his songs it's like a volume pedal that allows almost kind of a vowel sound. Sounds much more akin to an old like analog micro synthesizer pedal. Not only do you have the volume control but it allows you to add resonance and it change the tone up a bit. Although it does he's definitely using some kind of rare synth type pedals and some of his stuff like the song Hold Me you can hear it quite a bit in that. Some people claim it's only volume pedal that he's using in dreams and gypsy and you make loving fun. I don't think so on a certain songs like hold me you can hear that it's much more than just a volume pedal you can't even see him use it on Dreams live as it appears whatever he's using the studio he's not wanting to take out in the road and Lock synthesizers would be something like that that can't be quite difficult. I was able to use mine to acquire all sorts of stuff anything just from changing altering phrases bands like the police used. But taking it to an extreme with some other pedals and driving a rectifier tube amp completely to Insanity creating a super psychedelic iridescent sound according to Isley brothers, who's that lady? One of great many times you can achieve using old high power tube amps crank to insanity got to have rectifier tubes in that guitar amp. That's how you get all the old crazy sounds including worked out stuff like Spirit in the Sky, or if you want to sound like a chainsaw or even the demon like iron butterfly In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.

I don't remember when was the last time I was so annoyed and got a headache from learning a song. It's because of this travis picking. It's unnatural to me and when I try to remember and pick the exact same strings as you then I get literally get a headache haha. Even tho I'm playing for about 9 years I never got around to trying travis picking and now i have a problem.

Your talent, ear, ability, and facility are simply amazing dude. Thanks for another great visual-instruction lesson. I've been very fortunate in being able to "fetch out the 'bits' & tunings" and learn the songs I wanted to play correctly by ear, but they and I both seem to have gotten old and impatient lol. I majorly appreciate a good "shut up and let me show you how" lesson these days, and you're certainly one of the best at it ever.

You rock brother, thanks for the great lesson! You might not get enough requests for this, but what are your thoughts about doing Fleetwood Mac's "I'm So Afraid"? Chords and solo?

the travis picking doesn't have to stop on A and D chord slide down to 12 fret bit. you're right on the album it does, but live lindsey actually keeps the bass line going on D string sometimes. out of thumb habit i can't stop keeping it going due to auto pilot

I have a choice. I either quit right now or I spend the rest of my life working my ass off to try to get as good as this guy . (Knowing I will never get that good ) … I think I am going to keep trying.
