I promised myself that I will reach masters with WINTON. I am a PS4 player and today I got back to plat 5 again (I hit plat 4 yesterday) today and I also used other tanks but ended up losing. I swear today from now on I will be only using WINTON. I want to be like you. But it's hard when everyone goes counters.
Also tips to focus on mercy and kill her? It's hard when she goes back and forth and a sup is also healing her. So it's impossible to kill them. Especially When it's a ZEN.
@@dogidogediggidydogedd957 Don't just jump at her cause she'll just fly away, catch her at her landing spot. You can poke her a bit with alt fire to provoke her to fly
@@Winton_OW2 Should I use shield once she lands? Because thats when the enemy team starts blasting me or the other support, more specifically a Ana or Zen start blasting me. Also what's your opinion about this new Tank changes? Do you think It will benefit Winton alot? You are a huge inspiration for me. Keep it up Winton. ❤️👍
@@dogidogediggidydogedd957 If you're going to die then sure. But you shouldn't be diving a mercy if she's got the whole team around. Catch her out off guard or out of position
@@Winton_OW2 So should I target others then? Because the biggest problem is when a support is waaaay in the back like a Ana or Lifeweaver. And they're team just goes straight at them. Should I try and kill one of the DPS? Or should I snipe Mercy and see if my team can finish her off? Should I also request my teammates certain characters that are good to kill a mercy? Like soldier and Ash and such? Also when the enemy team has many counters. Reaper, bastion and Mauga. How do I kill a mercy when I get killed in just 3 seconds? Should I stay with my team more instead of Diving and pushing them? Because it's hard especially on that German map Einchald(I think that's the name) , since I don't know how I should push.
+1 I’ve never really understood how to juggle effectively, but I’ve always found it interesting! This helped. I’ll definitely try out Winston more now :)
This is the most well put Winton guide I've come across. It's easy to understand, but also goes very in depth. It's time for Winton to rise to the top, and with your guide there'll be way more Wintons running around. Thank you for all the effort you did with this guide, I know a lot of work went into it! ❤ I mean, Winton!
this is so true. i love this guy so much. there are great guides on websites like owboost but only a person who loves winton so deeply can make a perfect guide... it takes love :>
Idk why but but for some weird reason I’ve recently had the sudden urge to start playing Winston this season. Oddly enough before even watching this video maybe this is a sign from God telling me Winston might be my new tank main. Keep in mind when I say a weird sudden urge I truly do mean it, I never really saw Winston’s gameplay or kit very appealing ever since ow1 and barely played him in ow2 due to counter swapping; and I was a Rein main with a brawl play-style. Which is why this change really seemed out of place. I think I really want to play and learn Winston now might be bc he has a high skill ceiling therefore learning to be a good Winston means learning how to be a better tank. Im already a diamond tank player but Ik I can go higher.
playing winton in the mindset as an assisting tank is how i like to play. going in super brawly makes my heart race and feels stressful when you're up in the enemies face. hopping around like you're in a jungle gym and scouting out how to help your team rather than stuffing people's faces to get kills helped me better read the flow of the game. i enjoyed this guide and the mindset section at the end of the video was a good reminder for me to not get tilted in my games. just monkey around and do your best. thanks :)
Another character I find really frustrating to play against as Winston is Mercy because her healing completely negates your Telsa cannon damage and the beam goes through the bubble. Mercy is also so mobile herself that it is really difficult to dive her because GA cooldown is shorter than leap, so she can just outmanoeuvre you.
Really appreciate this vid. Question : are there supports that you found that make it hard play Winston at max value? Personally I feel bap and Winston is hard to pull off effectively, consistently. Thanks in advance. Sub'd 🤙🏽
I find when playing against a hog, that if I ignore the hog and try to disrupt the supports or DPS, the hog just ignores me and kills my entire team by themselves. Then I'm left alone wondering what happened to everyone else. Besides swapping, what should I do in this scenario?
At the start of streams for like an hour or so I would spend it just jumping around maps using BSON1. Practicing jumping and juggling on different geometry. It's pretty tough on slopes but you want to try and get the minimal jump to reach the top of the slope while aiming downwards to send them up the slope to meet them. Down slopes it's best to just walk or jump over and behind them imo
Winston is easily one of my favorite heroes. Mechanically he's got a simple kit but it's a lot of game sense. Two tips that really help me, as someone that's Diamond/Masters on him is: 1. Gravity is free. If you can drop on targets and save yourself a leap cd, it's a win 2. Don't chase just to die. Your leap can also mean you going back to your supports and not chasing a 1v1 just to lose
For matchups, I can generally play around them decently, but I have a lot of trouble when they start stacking them. Like we win one teamfight as Winston then they instaswap to Reaper and Zen, or Bastion and Reaper, or Hog and Zen (etc). At this point, should I swap to DVa, or do you have any other tips? Should I play with my team much more for example?
Lmao, bro says almost 800 hours doesn't feel like a lot to call himself a master at a hero. Meanwhile I have just shy of 1800 hours on the game total, and that's since the release of 1. Also, if you took every hero I have over 100 hours on and added them up, I still wouldn't be to as much as he has on monke. I think it'd be around 600-650 hours. 😂
Winton is about to be busted so ty for the guide. One tricks know their hero best. You’re amazing for managing to one trick Winton. Also, you’re so right about flex players who constantly counter. Unfortunately counters can make up for a lack of in depth knowledge.
Melee spam while shooting does more dps than just shooting now. if you are on a single target and thus not cleaving you should almost always do this outside of specific matchups where boops can cause you to miss a melee and even then you should still be able to do it most of the time with good mechanics. For primal, you should aim to hit what is known as a quad juggle. melee -> jump -> melee -> land -> melee while flicking your crosshair over them. The last melee will hit twice if you performed it correctly. This combo will significantly increase your lethality with primal and turn it from a displacement and isolation ultimate into a full blown dps ultimate similar to blade. Most importantly use your mic when playing Monkey if you intend on climbing, I don't have the energy or the care to do so anymore and trust me it makes a massive difference. -I'm a heavily washed ex t500 collegiate monkey main
i just wanna say silver players are so braindead i was silver on tank now im gold 2 on tank and silver players just always say tank diff for no reason but gold players just dont say anthing at all
Winston is actually not bad at all against reaper, just only take fights with him while you have bubble. You can bob in and out and you’ll end up doing enough damage for them to wraith away, if you can you can usually jump on him after and finish him.
idk if this is the case in OW2 but in OW1 winton ult used to throw a shadow punch when his ult ended when you spam click instead of holding primary fire and the dps was the same (I think)
People throw around the term 'one trick' these days but this dude really doesn't have 120 seconds with any other character 😆 It must be hell when your counters have high pick rates
Be sent here by youtube recommandation. I am glad to see people still playing Monkey and otp in ow2. See you soon in stream monkey buddy, counterwatch is so fucking annoying. Most of game ending up with a bastion, mauga tob or more and people flaming you because they are dying to them, feeling people are expecting you to counter the entire enemy team 🤔
I feel like Cassidy is the true hard counter, and an Ana that has a clue. Moira spray heals also makes you useless if you dont have a team working with you.... which to be honest. Overwatch is alot of solo ideas mashed together.
Quick question hopefully someone can answer this but when you jump in the air charging your ranged zap and you do the combo does anyone else have a delay before they can use there primary again?
Question Is it okay to just hang back sometimes. Take numbani first point attack for instance. I oftenly like to try and soft dive to get the space, fall to sustain, and then look to start hard pressuring, but there are times where my team decides to go left side high ground, or support is split because of teammates taking big damage numbers Should I just hang back and wait out the issues and go upon time we regain our footing or reengage while lower on resources to try and assist the people on my team so that we can try and take the fight back from potentially picked off people to diverted fire and higher chance at not seeing the spawn doors
When I play winston I always struggle with the fact that I dont do much damage so if I dont have good dps I cant really carry and get lots of kills or any kills at that for my team. If my dps arent getting any kills what should I do?
Ive been a winston player since first release, never been someone who plays competitively but im picking up the game again now a year later and theres too many new maps and new heroes i needed this video 😂
With tank (and just OW in general) a lot of stuff is situational. If you think that it will help you win the fight/game then why not? If it doesn't work, try to figure out why so that the next time you get into that situation you'll know better
Lets say a Reaper was going for you and you bubbled, it would be best to "dance bubble" because you can prevent much more damage. If you just stay in the bubble and they move in the bubble you are gonna take full damage.
I saw the post about winton guide on reddit recently. Are you that guy? Thanks for content anyway My notes on guide: 1)It did a good job at giving an extensive amount of details, advises, and just rare but plausible scenario, like wifeleaver bubble steal. 2) Not really relevant, but missed detail of monke jumping further in primal (at least it was 4 years ago) 3)You can actually nullify reapers below plat if you kite around your bubble, but not sure if its relevant nowadays since winton is now only tank and has more important job to do
You forgot to teach the quick burst tech using back directional jump. Counting colldown allows u a lot of chase potential, using back jump gets ur cooldown counter started faster for your next jump. Vertical jump is also used to burn cooldown and give u reload time
1 thing that should be mentioned is that winston basically requires comms. If you don't have your mic on, winston is the pretty much worst tank in the game. On the flipside, if you do comm, winston has the potential to be the best.
I feel you can jump reaper safely if he’s far enough from his team/close to your dps. This way you get rid of him by either killing or early wraith. Then do what you want until wraith is back up.
