A concert one, or specifically s fender zuma concert ukulele :> Was a bit pricier than what I think most people just starting ukulele would choose, but it sounds and looks great, haven't really got any regrets ^^
Ok. I've been practicing the uke for a week now. I'm not frustrated by my slow progression, since I already expected that, but I wanted to study smart. I just watched 3 of your videos and your tips are gold! Thanks!
c00kie.subliminals hey man I just wanted to see if he kept practicing, I don’t think you would normally say you’re gonna update we were just interested.
I’m seventy four and in lockdown. So decided to do something different and sent off for a uke.Fingers are a bit stiff etc and was finding A to G nightmarish but your tutorial helps a lot. Will keep on trying lol.
I realize this was posted a few years ago, but i had to comment. I tried to start learning a couple of years ago and got frustrated with chord transitions and got busy at work. I'm 53 and have never played an instrument and was trying to learn on my own because I've been told how easy it by several people. I've tried to pick it up another time, which resulted in the same frustration. I stumbled upon a neighbor that's part of a community uke group, which I've joined. So I've started learning again. I practice daily, and I am improving but still struggling with transitions. I was so happy to find this video. Your pointers make so much sense. It will be part of my daily practice going forward. I'm pretty excited about my chances for success. Thank you so much.
When I first played ukulele, it was in music class. We learnt 3 songs; Don't tear my heart, In the jungle and another one I don't remember. I had a broken arm so i failed miserably. My music teach just said- copy of the board and just play. I learnt nothing
Super helpful. Thank you!!!! Pulling my fingers off and reforming each chord was getting me nowhere. You rock for explaining the simple stuff us beginners just don't think about and yet is so basic that experienced friends never think to tell you. Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I can't figure out what was wrong every time i try to change chords but after watching this i realize that i take my hands off the uke too much when changing chords. This really helps!
Your tutorial of changing chords not only thought me on changing chords but also on bringing change in my life. I can not change how the chords are just like i cannot change other people but i can change myself. By making the transition fast and smooth i can change my life for the better. Just like you said HAVE PATIENCE. Thank you.
I’m trying to learn riptide for my first song on ukulele and going from am to g is hard especially when I just got my uke. I’m probably rushing and forcing myself But I’m left handed too and most vids I watch confuse me. :/
I know you get these comments constantly but this has really helped me. I felt frustred after couple days (I know, not much time but still) because other teachers / tutorials started with "press at once". So the "attack the next chord from the skies" was the approach. But this one by one, I am already much much faster after one day. I understand there is a limit but eventually I know it will switch to all at once, already some fingers land at the same time in some chords. The key is that this is much more approachable to practice. You start slow and get faster and more precise after 10, 100, 500.. etc. chord changes. Thank you
Elise thank you so much for the advice!!! I just started ukulele and I really appreciate it!!! Thank you!! Also you were part of the reason I wanted to learn ukulele! I just thought it was so cool and fun and it looked easy to learn!
Tysm! I watched this video when I was just starting ukulele and about a week later, I got it! I’ve been playing ukulele for 3 months now and without i probably wouldn’t be able to switch chords! Ty
Really helpful got a learner uku about 10 months ago but never played but watching your vids I sayed practice hard to be as good and am to g was really hard for me so thank you so much
Thank you so much for this. I'm a beginner and I have been struggling with the transition from c to g..and within watching this and a few times it's coming a lot easier.
I don't have my uke yet but i am getting mine tomorrow so i have been watching your tutorials so I know some chords and how to transition between chords

Thank you so much for this video...solid advice. I was already figuring this out for some transitions, but I needed some reminding for those that were frustrating me. Practice, practice, practice! Already improving. You are adorable and I enjoy your channel. Thanks again!
Newbie, was cruising through the chords (Am, F, G, C, G7, then even D, Em)...but HIT A BRICK WALL on Dm7 and E7 (Imagine by John Lennon). Fingers literally would not do it while playing. This video helped so much so quickly- many thanks!
oh! thanks! i’ve never thought of it that way actually. i can transition from one chord to another kinda quickly, but i always pull off my fingers from the frets! so this helps a lot actually.
When i bought my ukulele i already knew this chanel that's why i learn how to play it tnx elise for all of those tutorials and covers i really inspires me to play ukulele
Elise, I'd like to thank you so much! I got an Ukulele for Christmas, and I was worried i wouldn't learn it. But then I stumbled upon you. Thanks to you, it's going really smoothly! Also, you are an amazing girl, don't mind the haters, they are just jealous of your awesome singing voice and your talent for playing! Keep this up, I say you will be famous in the future! 💖
I’m really glad that I found your tutorials, I’ve learned a lot from it, you’ve given me hope to try to play again and now I’m always looking out to your videos. Thank you so much for this! continue inspiring others.
The way you form the chords on ukulele and guitar are different. Each instrument will have it's own way to play the chords. For example, a C chord on ukulele requires one finger, while the guitar requires three fingers for the C chord.
@@cactaii6068 it will not sound the same, since the string of the guitar have other notes progression (E, A, D, G, B, E). If you do the Ukulele's G chord on a guitar, well that's the D chord so the sound it's different. Also, on the guitar is pretty hard to find chord with just one finger on a string, there are some, but those aren't the basic chords (C, D, E, F, G, A, B nor Cm, Dm, Em, Fm, Gm, AM, Bm) Also, yes if you play the Ukulele's G chord and guitar's G chord, will sound like the same G chord since the notes are all the same for any instrument and vocals but sometimes you need to do some arrangements depending the instrument your playing, since every instrument haver their own particular sound.
I'm a Keyboard player and I can understand this video, I don't know SONGS but when I do play fast I go for Chord inversions or I'll play 1 note one the Bass and improv on the Melody (it's hard to explain) I been playing for over 10 years just vibing out to some jams, Keyboards is easy for me! I play intense chord changes when I jamming.
4:35 Actually, there IS a kind of number, I picked it up on youtube from a channel unrelated to music. If you want to start progressing in something, do it 200 times. After about 200 full-hearted attempts you'll start to grasp it. This "rule" is not absolutely universal but in very many cases gives a solid starting point.
