At about 14 minutes, you mention Bill Frisell. "Small Town" with Thomas Morgan is an incredible album. They also have a live record recorded at The Village Vanguard in 2016, released in 2019, named "Epistrophy", which is stunning. I'm just starting trying to play Gypsy Jazz, and I'm quite overwhelmed. Your channel is a beacon of light in the dense fog that is RU-vid. Thank you.

I'm really loving your videos Sven! Thanks so much for another great lesson. I'm still very new to the gypsy jazz style so I'm still working on simply getting the chord forms under my fingers. These tempos are mind bending to me but I can imagine your training suggestions will be really helpful.

This video and the exercises are really helpful Sven, thanks a ton! Sixteen tons to be precise ;) I have a few more questions: How does a good pick-to-guitar-angle look like for you (your style)? How do you hold the pick? How do you mute strings? How do you exercise finger strength and flexibility/stretch? How do/did you practice challenging chord changes? Thanks for your efforts to teach us how to improve and improvise! Cheers!

Waouhh very interesting Sven ! You have an excellent technique and right hand :-) I told you a few months ago that i was impressed by your progression during the last few years. For Gypsy Jazz the technique and fast playing is critical i think. I'm a bass player since more than 20 years i learned gypsy jazz very recently on guitar but i recognized a lot of your comments on this video regarding the daily work and so on. But the most important thing is to play with other musicians better than you. And you play with Josho Stephan and others and look how you progressed in a short time ! :-) I think you are a future Stockelo if you continue this way...

Very good and helpful. One thing I would like to see is a video with the finger settings of the all the chords the way Gypsy jazz guitarists play them. Thanks!

if you look at the clock on that wall behind Sven you'll see the hands move more slowly the faster Sven plays. This could place the future of the universe in jeopardy since time could be stopped and so i do not recommend that you or Sven play at above 417 bpm ---- I would like to see breakfast time tomorrow so please, be prudent. By the way could somebody tell him it's ''seven'' not sven.

Hallo Sven, vielen Dank für dieses tolle Tutorial. Deine Geschwindigkeit ist beeindruckend. Vielleicht kannst Du mir zwei Fragen beantworten?

Thank you Sven. Very generous of you. Question: regarding arms, wrists and fingers, do you think using them to lift weights, rock climbing or any other physically demanding stress will affect your ability to play fast? Will it affect the wrist and fingers in a negative way? Thx again.
@SvenJungbeck
@SvenJungbeck 4 года назад
I do rock climbing as well. But when I started playing more gypsy I had wrist problems for about a year, now I climb less, but before that I was already a professional guitarist for 10 years and hadn't any problems at all. I'm also doing pull ups and push ups. Push ups are more stressful than climbing and pull ups to me.

Thank you! What would you say about speeding up the tempo? They say this is stylistic feature of this style and Angelo Debarre also told about constant speeding up. But how tp deal with that when playing in a band?)) This is an intsresting issue. Thank you

Really good lesson. I have one question: how can i do if my fingers go too far off the neck when i play my solos?

Very cool rhythm! That being said, how on earth can you keep that pace up for 4-5-6+ minutes @ 7:40? If I were to be honest with myself, there’s no way I could do that, as I have osteoporosis in my right shoulder. Man, getting older sucks 😂

I once played with Roby Lakatosh, I think he is, and I met some guys in Cologne, their music is very different and I don’t really know about their rhythms and stuff…but love it!
@user-sm4ks9io2n
@user-sm4ks9io2n День назад
@SvenJungbeck Yes they play more like a "Balkan/Klezmer/Middleeadtern" vibe with interesting rhythms yes lol. Its true Our Romano music in the USA isn't on par with the sinti But look up "Bobby johnson Quartet" RU-vid has my dad playing Les Yeux Noir, all of me.. and some more. And also there's Boba demeter, and Titi Demeter who is A speed demon when he gets going

At 19:14 are you doing a true chromatic? I looks to me like you are skipping the 5th half step...
@SvenJungbeck
@SvenJungbeck 4 года назад
Your right, it's just a technique exercise that works well on guitar. It's not really chromatic. One note is missing, in the end I make it real chromatic here, by playing gsharp on the upper E string. But the notes themselves are not important here.
