I would love to see a video on how to start training for USPSA When you don't know how to set up stages or anything like that.
@junderwood6633
@junderwood6633 Месяц назад
Just go to a match. You'll learn right away what to practice. You don't typically set up stages to practice. You set up individual elements of stages and work on 1 thing at a time. If you're interested in this, dont wait. Just go and shoot. You'll get lots of help and have a blast. These videos ate fantastic and I wish I had seen something like this before my 1st match.

Justin should speak on doing this lifted handed. I know it’s not like rare but it’s different. He has to drop his mag just as quick as Brennan but I noticed his mag release is still on the left. What’s his choice of manipulation with that? Etc. great video‼️‼️🤞🏽

Great video guys! The only other suggestion I'd have is for people to have their visualization done before they get to the line.
@GatewayDefense

Definitely. One thing I (Justin) had mentioned on my first run was that the make ready should not be the first time you visualize, but the final time you visualize.

When you’re “finished” and clear your gun at the end of the stage, do you pick up your live round you eject on the ground then?

Yes you can, but only if you know exactly where it is. Be careful not picking up a round that looks like your caliber but really isn’t (like 9mm major, etc)

At 34:18, isn’t that Charlie Mike NS? All I see is one hit on the brown. I don’t think you score any hits on white paper only, regardless of what stands behind it.
@GatewayDefense
@GatewayDefense 5 месяцев назад
Negative. It was cutting the perf of the no shoot so the hit is scored as an alpha no shoot because it’s touch both the alpha and the NS. The cardboard outside of the perf doesn’t exist. Good question tho!
@mikebeuselinck6138
@mikebeuselinck6138 5 месяцев назад
@@GatewayDefense Thank you for clarifying! Couldn’t see the perf line in that section of the video. I was looking up the USPSA scoring rules about the perf line and how it’s scored based on the adjacent sections. Very interesting (and complicated)!

I'm sure he didn't mean it literally, but don't take a "few minutes" after the make ready command lol. Great video.

You absolutely can. It’s in the rule book. Important to take time to check your dot, load properly and carefully, visualize everything one last time, etc.
@jackdeth5009
@jackdeth5009 5 месяцев назад
@@GatewayDefenseSure you can, but you aren't going to win any popularity contests lol. "A few minutes" is frankly ridiculous, but you do you. If everyone at Nationals took "a few minutes" to Make Ready on every stage we would have been shooting in the dark every day.

This is the first time I've looked at this in depth. What surprised me most was how small the penalty of no hits turned out to be.
@GatewayDefense
@GatewayDefense 2 месяца назад
A miss ends up costing you 15 points. You lose the 5 points you could have scored by shooting an alpha, and you incur a penalty of -10pts. If you are referring to a no-shoot white target, and you didn’t break the perf to where its scoring both as a hit as well as a no-shoot penalty, you end up with a miss (Mike) AND a no shoot (-10) for a total of -25 points, which is the equivalent of 2 paper targets and a steel target!
@craigbenz4835
@craigbenz4835 2 месяца назад
@@GatewayDefense I wrote that wrong. I meant hitting the no shoot like in your second example.
@MrZola1234

Given your handed, both of you chose the wrong side to start from on the stage. I could see a novice shooter choosing to start from the slower side. Most shooters should have no problem loading without breaking the 180.
