How to practice Tibetan Buddhism (how beginners can start)

If you’ve ever wondered how to “get serious” about practicing Tibetan Buddhism, you might be relieved to know that you don’t have to become a monk or nun, and you don’t have to spend the rest of your life in a cave.
In this episode, I’ll talk with Aaron of the organization Dharma Gates on what’s involved when you want to become a serious student of Tibetan Buddhism, including how to connect with a teacher and community.

I love this tradition and wanna follow it . But Iran is a full Islamic country which people do not have access to any guru and Buddhist temple . Can I follow tibetan Buddhism without present guru ? Can I follow it with books from lamas and use RU-vid channels like yours ? Thanks for your useful information ❤

Hi, B. Guardian -- yes, absolutely, even though it's more difficult not to get the support of a teacher and community, you seem to have a strong connection with this tradition. The beginning stages of the path, in particular, are more accessible and don't require a "live" teacher. Also, there are many sanghas like mine, Dawn Mountain, that broadcast all their teachings and events. I don't know if it's safe for you to join via Zoom, but that might be an option, too. Good luck on this path. The ultimate guru is your own buddha nature. 💜

Thank you Clairie. I´m a beginer in this path. I definitly wanna start going deeper. I´ll like to begin with ngondropractice or some other introductory teachings for beginers. Any recomedations?

Hi, Syl, Ngondro is a great way to get a firm foundation in Tibetan Buddhism. :) Loppon Yudron Wangmo -- who I know you know 😊-- would be a great person to guide you when it comes to Ngondro. For anyone else who's interested, you can search her name to find her channel here on RU-vid or visit www.mayummountain.org. Plus my own teachers, Anne Klein and Harvey Aronson, will be offering a Ngondro program soon, too. I'll be teaching this fall with them in preparation for it. You can find more info on dawnmountain.org, and I'll write everyone on my mailing list with info when I have it.
