Thanks Dillion for this video. I'm nervous when it comes to sanding cause I don't wanna sand to much off & mess my sneakers up. but after watching this detail custom I'm finally getting the idea. I really appreciate the close-ups after the sanding process. Thanks a bunch.
Hello dejesus! Big fan, and i was wanting to know what paint i should use from angelus, is it leather, acrylic, I’m confused. I have already bought everything else in this video, i just need help on the paint and cleat selection, thanks!
This tutorial was 🔥 and appreciated. Not sure if I’ve missed the adhesion promoter step, in other videos, do you prefer the spray adhesion promoter over the stuff that is mixed with the paint? Thanks again!!
Good deal!!! One last question and I’ll leave you alone. Lol. I notice in this video, and others, you airbrushes/brushed on the Matte 4-coat…is this the same step as using the Krylon Matte Finish (saw that in another video). If yes, which do you prefer? Thanks again!!
Hi there this video makes real sense and clearness to the preparation and final custom. Instructions on the package of angelus paints is not clear enough and even when you asked them they them selves make no sense and keep saying its technique But no details there??? . . .. I tried to custom some 3 shoes for myself each differently all crack and peeled after few times ... Any ways i will try your start to finish just need some confirmation to the steps of beginning to end. 1- sand with the 3 type of grits 400, 800, then 1500 grit around 15 min all around or on the surface you need to paint. 2- use the green part of the washing sponge with acetone all around same 5 min max. 3- spray the shoes with adhesion promoter once or twice all over set for 10 min aside 4- start painting each layer with angelus leather paint must dry each layer for 15 - 30 min max or use dryer to fasten. Do the process till desired color. 5- As for soft material 1:1 ratio soft and As for for plastic areas use hard, the ratio is also either 1:1 or 1:2 depending on the hardness of the plastic. 6- Last step is to use coat(( here i need explanation do it either use spray promoter again and wait 10 min then apply the coat of angelus 1 , 2 or 3 layer and in between the layers should dry within 30 min or more , or shall i use the air dryer to dry them. what is the difference between the finish and coat exactly ??? thanks i really appreciate your help
For step 4 just let it air dry, don’t heat the paint when working on non fabrics. For the last step you just use the angelus 4 coat and let it air dry for 30 minutes as well. Don’t heat that either and no need for more adhesion promoter
Hi, I was wondering if you had any idea what I did wrong or could do to make better? I watched many videos on RU-vid and copied this one. I sanded the cleats, cleaned with acetone. Sprayed with adhesion promoter, Painted with 3 coats of acrylic leather paint and finished with Satin 4 coat. Thank you in advance of any input you may have. I can’t supply pics here. Are you on twitter or instagram?
Hey. sanding Nike are fine. like i know and see what you mean when you say grey layer would be visible.but what about other brands . How do we make sure that the layer is off. because I see some chipping away and creases forming that is ruining my art.
Hello and thanks for all your explaination vids. Wether it's cleats or sneakers, does this prep method prevents creases on the toebox if worn on a daily basis ? Or will it crack anyway someday ? Same question in a more simple way : is it'possible to wear a full custom everyday without cracks appearing ? Thanks !
So what if the material you’re working with isn’t the hard plastic as shown? It’s more of a hard mesh material. How would you recommend prepping this type of material and what type of sealant works best to prevent cracking? Thank you
Awesome video!!🔥🔥🔥 I have some question sir! Is it possible to sand upper like Kobe 5? This is a flexible, gloss-coated film. What is best for kobe 5 durability?
Good morning kind sir! Yet another quick question for the goat lol , would the same steps you did in this apply to air forces as far as the sanding, brillo pad and adhesion spray?
Hello, hope you can answer this, i saw on your video you use your airbrush to put the base color, but in this case as you have synthetic materials and also fabrics (or soft materials) what you put in there just paint of add any additive...? And same question for the finisher all over the cleats no matters material...? Thanks DJ hope i could have an answer
I fully prepped a pair of leather shoes to practice on and I got a bunch of other projects so I kind of forgot about them and left them for 3 or so months. Should I reprep them or can I just start working on them?
Hello, will this help me customize my carbon vapor football cleats that are made in 2018… the material is very shiny and wanted to see if this will help
Anybody know if there's a difference between the Rustoleum adhesion promoter that just says PRIMER and the the one that says AUTOMOTIVE PRIMER? I only ever see the automotive in the paint section
@addisonbesedic2201 I actually found this out..its the same thing just make sure you get the clear one and not the gray one..surprisingly I could only find it at auto zone..all the craft stores near me only had the gray
What is your mix ratio of 2thin and paint for the airbrush? I have watched multiple vids and see that your style has changed w duller and without. What do you prefer now?
Hi I bought some synthetic shoes and it’s my first time trying to customise shoes. Which paint should I use? Acrylic with fabric medium is the one I will use unless there is a better one out there. The leather paint is quite expensive and I am not working on leather but any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
Hi, I'm from Brazil and I'm looking to customize my cleats. I'm having trouble finding some materials, like Primer here we have some that are more for general use, I was thinking of getting something related to vinyl and car bumpers. Do you have any tips? (the one you left Amazon link, sold out too to import) About the paint, I would like to do a gold painting and I'm having trouble finding gold leather paint, can it be a spray can, for painting in general or automotive painting?
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear Thank you very much for the tips, I was able to import the product and the 18k Gold ink. Two more questions arose: I'm going to paint it all gold, but before that I'm going to apply a layer of black, you say that when you apply Adhesion Promotet you have to paint it in ten minutes, if I paint it black first and then apply the gold one or two times, how much more? How long should I wait between them? And at the end, some customizers, apply a varnish, to cleats do you recommend using or not? sorry for any mistakes, I'm using Google Translate
When using vinyl for stencils..is there one kind that is better to use than others? I just did my 1st pair, and I pulled up too much paint from the white base coat, and also left alot of adhesive on the shoe as well. (part of this may have been from leaving the vinyl on too long before painting them) also, I did let each coat dry for 30+ minutes when doing the basecoat. So It wasnt anything i couldn't fix but the less touch ups (or screw ups) the better🤣
I have an all whtie cleat, but I do want to keep the base of my cleat white and paint only certain portion designs, would you recommend that I sand only the part of the cleat I intend to paint? Or, the whole cleat?
@@DeJesusCustomFootwear I’m sorry if I’m repeating the same question because I am a little confused. I appreciate your feedback! My football cleat is all white. I only want to paint certain parts of the cleat. So, do I just need to get rid of the factory finish for the areas I want to paint?
