My neighbor, a professional painter, painted the aluminum siding on his home last year. He chose a grey/blue color over the original white. It looks beautiful, and no problems going to darker color.
NJ2MDdude quick question, I want to do the same thing paint my old white aluminum siding gray. Did your neighbor use any etching paint to get the gray to stick. And what type of paint was used. Any help would be greatly appreciated
I've never understood the part about working from the bottom up. That means that as you move up, the dirt from above streams over the clean siding below, so you'll have to re-rinse the lower parts each time you move up. (to avoid any dirt from drying on). Shell needs to explain why you would want to work up. What am I missing?
YOU CAN MOST CERTAINLY CHANGE COLORS, BUT YOU NEED APPROVED PAINTS AND COLORS. THERE ARE TONS OF COLORS TO CHOOSE FROM. 48hrs listed on paint can for curing time on vinyls.
Hello 😊 I was thinking of painting the outside of my sons house, which is this kind of vinyl siding. He lives in Australia, needless to say it’s very hot in the summer (I’m in the U.K.) Is there a temperature you should not paint this acrylic paint? Thanks Paul 😊
Yes, shouldn’t be an issue if you apply a thick coat. May need 2 coats, just make sure the darker color was a vinyl safe color. (Mixed with blue and not black)
As far as the so-called wrinkling, if the original installation of the siding was done CORRECTLY there is no chance of the siding warping. If that was the case, if your example house that you are working on had dark blue/grey siding on it are you saying the wall would already be "wrinkled/warped?" The only reason siding warps and wrinkles is because it was not HUNG and installed correctly. Also, you should under cut with a brush the overlap area of the siding. Using a roller to get into the 90 degree break is so not what so be getting done. The big tip here is not to use most of this guys tips!
Could you please make a video on how to repair the very bottom edge of aluminum siding? It has been in contact with soil from flower bed and started to crumble. The width is 4 inches and length is 44 inches. The damaged area is only 0.5 inch from the bottom.
A rookie who over sprays can cause more damage and spend more time repairing mistakes than its worth. Learning curve for a sprayer can make it slower. So either or makes sense depending on the person.
