Question, the 801 021 has a radius of 1 mm, so the depth of our C shaped gingival margin is then 1 mm. But then our axial depth cut is 1.5 mm. Doesn’t this make our axial reduction deeper than our gingival reduction by .5 mm, thus making our chamfer wider than before we started reducing axially?
Thank you for your question. We will be sure to relay this to the doctor when appropriate. In the meantime, you can find more clinical tips here - glidewell.dental/CrownBridgePrepCE
With this preparation you are missing ferule which will result in a higher chance of a fracture because you solely rely on your adhesive cement technique. For the rest a very nice video!
Dear Dr, Thank you very much for interesting video. Btw, which one is better for this preparation: electric handpiece vs air-driven handpiece? Best regards
Its pretty ridiculous that 95% of dentists do not know or care that it is not necessary to remove this much natural tooth in order to crown a tooth, that a partial crown/onlay ect…. should always be considered over a full crown because it spares more natural tooth. Because ALL dentists should know its always best to keep as much natural tooth structure as possible in case of further future decay. Smh
I partially agree with you. This is quite invasive and not in line with minimally invasive dentistry. I have however experienced that partial crowns and onlays occasionally fracture or fall out if there are excessive forces at play. And it's often a bit difficult to assess how strong forces an onlay or a partial crown can withstand. When in doubt, I usually prepare thin shell crowns in monolithic zirconia. My dental technichian can make these with almost a knife edge finish at the cervical margin. Really gracile and aesthetically pleasing crowns without sacrificing too much tooth substance, but still really strong and with non-abrasive surfaces due to the polished zirconia finish. I only need to remove about 0.5 mm at the cervical margin and about 1 mm elsewhere (keeping in mind that you need a correct taper)
I prefer lombard's BOPT tech or Lassman's Anterior Prep tech .... or Iwata Jun's anterior prep tech .... Its too beautiful to watch as well as its paper point accurate...!
Thank you for watching. Dr. DiTolla will be presenting 2023 IOX Digital Dentistry Symposium this Friday. 08/18/2023. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1zLTD640YjY.html
