In my Channel, I show step by step of alternative but authentic Japanese home cooking, which can be made with the ingredients that are easily available outside of Japan.
In this video, I am explaining about Natto, what it is and how you can prepare it deliciously. Natto is a traditional Japanese food made from soybeans that have been fermented. It is typically served as a breakfast food and contains an Enzyme called "Nattokinase", which thins the blood and helps break up blood clots. This helps to prevent against heart disease and conditions such as stroke, heart attack, and others. It is said to lower the blood pressure and blood sugar rate.

I used to hate natto with a passion. A month ago, i decided to buy a pack (comes with 3 little boxes) to lower my cholestorol. The first box i ate, i didn't like it. The 2nd box, i thought it tasted ok. Third box, i thought it was absolutely delicious. Now, i eat this EVERY day. I mix woth a chopstick at least 300 times and eat it with rice. So delicious!!!

I LOOOOOOOOOVE nattō! I did not dig it the first two times I tried it, but I was determined to like it because the health benefits are fantastic! The sauce + mustard are a must, imo! It's seriously a great food to include in your diet! If you don't like it the first time, just give it a chance and try it again. Sooo yummy.

Thank you for your instructions with natto! I feel I am slowly getting there! Today must have been my 6th attempt, and I had most ingredients at hand, except for the cooked rice. The Japanese mustard, ao nori and yakitori no tare were new additions to soya sauce and scallions. They definitely give natto a lovely rounded taste. Also, I find mixing the natto first neutralizes the cheesy smell. Getting there, absolutely happy about this, thank you!!!

I tried to like Natto, I really really did….. I even looked into making my own, buying the bacteria to ferment the soy bean, I just couldn’t get used to it…. It’s good for your bones….. I ended up buying natto ( nattokanase something like that, in a capsule form ( always better to eat foods in there natural forms I feel. But again I just couldn’t get myself to like it. Maybe it’s time to try again. ( it’s been like 10 years) I might try your natto with spaghetti noodle recipe! New subscriber here! Japanese food quality control is one of the best in the world and you almost never find eggs that are contaminated with harmful bacteria so that we can eat it row. You find many Japanese dishes eaten with row eggs. (sukiyaki, and many donburi with only slitely cooked egg to congeal other ingredients.). I always use row egg when I eat natto I live in US but never had any issues.

I’m still not sure exactly how I’m going to prepare it, but it will involve.

I finally tried it. It smells like raw yeast I think, nowhere near as bad as I thought it would. Tastes just like that, a bit mild. I can see why westerners might not like it. but I feel that if you mix it with other foods or condiments it will flourish.

Just the introduction to Nattō I needed! Been meaning to try it for a while! One question re the sauce within the package - as it's with dashi, would you reckon that only using tamari and mustard works just as well to make it vegan? or would you add anything else to it like some kind of vinegar or kombu dashi? Thank you!

But also at the end of the day, the most important thing is that YOU enjoy it!! so try different variations and see what you like best!

Natto, organic non-GMO is the single best source of vitamin K2. This vitamin is critical to prevent calcium build up in the arteries. Drown it in soy sauce, mustard, wasabi and mirin if you want, but it's probiotic content and copper, calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron content make it a superfood. But- Natto has side effects on certain people. For example, people with bleeding disorders, who are on blood thinners, people with low blood pressure and on antihypertensive drugs must avoid natto. Also, two weeks before surgery, you must reduce its consumption to ensure no risk of excessive bleeding.Jul 26, 2022 🙏🌞 I've never seen any chef wrap his kimono like you did. Is that a standard or a method you learned from a specific chef or family member from where you were born?

One of the biggest health benefits is blood thinning and clot breakup but if it has vitamin K2 then that would counteract the blood thinning effects of it. Anyone have more info about this?

Do you think if it's stored after mixed with soy sauce and mustard the bacteria would die and it would lose it's benefits? Or maybe seaweed would get soggy? It's just like certain cheese that so many ppl can't get past smell or looks. You just have to try it with RICE (plain Japanese type). You can also mix it with Miso instead of Soy sauce I do it all the time and mix in finely chopped onion instead of spring onion. Try it it's delicious. Oh one more thing ,you must whip Natto at least 100 times before you add anything into it. More air you mix in more stringy it becomes and nutritional values go up.

When I first tried it 😮I was actually scared at how disgusting 🤮 it looked. So, I stirred it 100 times and added.the mustard, soy sauce, green onions. so I added a Serrano pepper and lemon 🍋 or lime, it was gross 😂at first and then I said this is delicious, it smelled like chocolate to me, but the texture was disgusting 🤮 lol
