Hey guys! I really hope this video on how to prepare for A levels (specifically maths, biology, chemistry and english literature!) is helpful for anyone transitioning from Year 11 to Year 12! The summer before sixth form is a perfect time to do a lil bit of prep if you want to feel like you have your life together! General sixth form prep is also included in this video towards the end! I hope you enjoy x

You should learn something else while you’ve got the motivation! Revising subjects now is barely gonna make a difference when you think about how much A level content there is and how much time you’ll spend on it. Learn a language, how to cook, the ukulele, whatever :)

I would advise that if there is a subject you are unsure about start off with 4 AS's and after a few weeks you can drop whichever you least prefer. It is much easier to drop a subject than to swap a subject and then have to learn all the content of the new subject that you have missed.

Lauren Devenney if your school lets you do that is my problem. I have my choices down to four possible subjects but I can only choose 3 on results day meaning there's no room to drop one

how is maths going? I take Bio Chem and Psychology but was thinking about switching from psychology to math , i have missed a few classes but i am not sure is maths too hard? My mom says takin psychology is a bad idea and i need to take maths instead what do u think? Btw i do the cambridge cie board. Will taking psychology limit me in uni ? How is it going for u , everyone says its waay too hard so i hope u reply

A_AW Don't think about it too deeply. Teachers won't have a detailed, nuanced opinions of every single one of their students in class. Unless you're the teacher's pet :)

Could you possible to a video on how you’d go about a school day, for example how you’d take your notes in lessons and then transfer them/ making revision resources at home with your class notes etc? Starting Year 12 in September and I’m doing computing, music, maths and Further maths (probably AS further though) I am definitely planning on organising everything and my space at home over the summer! I’m not sure if you’ve got a video on this already but how you revised for maths would be really useful as I really enjoy maths and it’s definitely one of my better subjects but I find it difficult to revise for as I basically just did past papers! (Also as the GCSEs have changed it was nice seeing that I actually recognised some of the chemistry 😂 - alkanes and alkenes are now on GCSE spec as well as some other things!) This is so perfect thank you jade! and in the 9-1 GCSEs you had to memorise the ions so I can still remember that sulphate is SO4 2-, haha this is the only good thing i’ve ever said about the new gcses!😂❤️

the "choose the subjects you want to do" is the best advice out there. i was forced to take biology by my parents (and even the principal) and i got a c (math phys and chem i got as) the only revision i bothered to do were on the day before exams and would 9/10 times not listen during lessons but it was the subject that gave me the most anxiety, i threw up multiple times before bio exams. i hated biology lessons and they ruined my AS experience sooo yeah try to reason with people who try to force you to do a subject that you clearly most definitely for sure a hundred percent don't want to do

Aena Mustafa I personally love it but at this point in the year, you’ll have to catch up by quite a bit. However, if you’re dedicated I’m sure it’ll be fine and a lot of the stuff that you’ve missed is a recap of gcse so if you liked that, you’ll definitely like this. I hope that everything goes well!
