@@CalligraphyMasters sir ! my one question ? for school children ( class 1st to class 10th) which is hand writing is better for learning ( for note book copies and examination copies)CURSIVE or BLOCK LATTER
I just started learning calligraphy about a year ago. And from all the channels and artists that teach all the different lessons of calligraphy.. by far! You are the best teacher giving the most understandable much needed to know information to those of use learning calligraphy
When I found Paul in my early days of Calligraphy, I literally watched every single video on his channel. And I'm very happy that because of this video or a similar video Paul made, I have a good sitting posture and understanding of the tools. And can't wait to convey this knowledge to my classes (by of-course referencing and crediting Paul's work and videos) at this stage, I just wash the nibs with a bit of warm water and massage them with a little bit of toothpaste. But yeah, saliva comes really handy when either you're out or you're in your comfortable posture and Don't wanna get up 😂
I brush my nibs on both sides with Windex for a few seconds and let them sit a few minutes before rinsing them. I use a small, soft paintbrush. The Windex removes oils. I'll try the toothpaste next time! 😁
Every minute of the video is useful to me. This video showed me what I did wrong with handeling and preparing the nib. No I didn’t burned the nib but everything else I did wrong
I bought another oblique pen holder, but I find the ink lasts much better with a reservoir (I think it's called a Mitchell type?). However, for some reason I'm struggling to fit it correctly! (I tried using it with red ink and it took 2 days to completely wash it off my hands! Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I know this is an old video, but there is so much information given by Paul that needs a real understanding to soak in all the information. Whatever I have learned is all from this Legend! Love the way you explain. I also recommend viewers check the "Yin and Yang Approach " by Paul! Thank you legend and Thank you milen1st for this video.
Thank you for all of the great info. I purchased your manual when it first came out and have enjoyed using it periodically to refresh and review. I also like that it is spiral bound. Hope you are doing well after your Covid and move and that you like your new home. All the best, Gale
Paul, i have been eyeing the new Japanese nib concept in that it is an expensive Tubular format but holds a huge amount of ink. There are various versions stainless steel, brass and glass. I would love to see you review this Kakimori. It comes at around $80 canadian so not a cheap purchase but what i want to know in your opinion is it worth it and what can it do in terms of hands…Maybe you have one already.
Paul Antonio what kind of paper do you use to write on and what is the best paper to practice on and what’s the best ink to start with? A lot of questions but I want to learn it the right way.
Layout paper is best for practise but you have to work out what inks and nibs you have available to you where you are. Not all inks are internationally available.
Hello, I'm new to calligraphy and I'm not a native english speaker. I bought a Brause nib whose reservoir must be filled with a brush. The problem is, at the end (when I finished my paper), there is too much ink on the brush but not enough to fill the reservoir. So when I clean the material, some ink is wasted by the brush. Is it inevitable or am I doing it wrong ? I hope my question is understandable and thank you in advance for the answers.
I get a real kick out of you . I think my table is too high . I do love to watch you but sometimes it gets to technical for me . I do try and do everything the way you say to do it .. Thank you for your videos .
You will not remember everything all at once. The think about being this technical is leaving nothing to chance. Make notes, stop, rewind, re listen and try to implement it. This really helps in the approach so that you are not causing injury to the body.
I LOVE ALL OF THIS INFORMATION❤❤ NO OTHER VIDEO ON RU-vid EXPLAINS SO WELL, GIVES YOU GREAT ADVICE AND INFORMATION 👍🏻👍🏻💯💯 CAN I USE ACETONE OR RUBBING ALCOHOL TO CLEAN THE NIBS❓❓BECAUSE I CAN'T STAND CLEANING THEM WITH SALIVA.
cher prf lorsque je commence à ècrire l'ècriture à langlaise, tout l'encre qui est sur la téte de la plume coule sur la feuille !!! je ne sais quoi faire?
Planishing the nib with a crocus cloth and and Arkansas Stone helps to get rid of any burs which might be left on the nib. Scratchiness my be an issue of the times not being aligned so look at it under a magnifying glass so you really know what is going on and not guessing.
@@PAScribe Thank you for your quick reply Paul! Was checking that out under the magnifying glass and couldnt see anything unusual (perhaps I need to visit the ophthalmologist) Thank you for your tips! Will try to solve it that way. B
Mesmerizing! Too bad your camera guy was filming you in front of you rather than behind you so I could see the letters forming as you went along. Even for your flourishing....although it was only 'abcdef' - it's nice to know what's coming next. Thank you for the indepth demonstration. Is your silver ring a single/double piece on your fingers? It comes off as one 'unit' not two, right?
I always put nibs in my mouth, the solution to not swallowing them is to put them in the holder first 😉 - I guess then you have to be careful not to poke your eyes with it (I wear glasses so it’s not an issue 🤓) could you pass my tip on to Paul?
That needs to be based on what the script of your culture is. It makes little sense enforcing something on kids which is not part of the mindset of the country they grow up in.
I also recommend the viewers of the Palmer method. "Palmer's Guide to Business Writing (1894)" was released in 1894 first, but the 1922 (?) release and the 1935 versions are easily accessible as PDF on the Internet.
