The U.S. leads the world in tornado activity, with approximately 1,000 tornadoes touching down each year.
While the majority of these tornadoes occur in the area known as “Tornado Alley,” they can, and do, happen all over the country - anytime and anywhere.
While much of your risk can be reduced before tornado season, there are still a few things you can do once it arrives.
