Amazing ! I can never do rettai ezhai and love it when I see people do. One trick my mom taught me for the maavu consistency incase it gets runny is to add a little bit of maida. It's a very smooth flour and your kolam also becomes a little shiny! This is for people like me who are super enthu and mix water to the whole batch!

Very informative content as always.. I have a slanting surface infront of my house.Any suggestions on getting ezhais to stay on slanting surface. Everytime I try,it flows over, no matter how thick I try to get it..

I’ve drawn maa kolams with my forefinger and the middle finger before. Never really got satisfactory results. Shall try your technique the next time. Will also try with a larger rag. Thank you Akka 👻
It requires practice. It’s a skill that can be developed and it’s exceptionally good for you. Many use short cuts... however, they will remain just short cuts....
Useful info for novices. Would have been better had you used a transparent glass bowl to show the contents and consistency since that is what the intention of the video was.
I had a similar thought. The bowl used in video is too big for us to see for that small cup of rice, how much water is needed. We can only see cloth dripping, not consistency. If you could show how the maavu looks and also givr an approximate ratio of rice to mix with water, that will be ideal

You can use rice power to thicken.... but you will need to add some maida, give it 1/2 hour to set and then draw it. It’s never the same but an alternative 😇
Truly these paste kolams.add a festive touch to any home.. I'm waiting to see tipsand tricks in how the ezhai comes in your kolam ..I always get small drips in between the lines ..So nice to see your channel
Aunty, you aren't alone..... The drips add to the beauty, however,its every person's determination to see lesser of them... I had quite some during shoot, when otherwise in reality, I hardly have any !!! I guess when shooting I am conscious and it shows.... but it is what it is :) The ezhai video plus other tips and tricks around the wet Kolam is content I am working on and will upload soon :)
Love this project. As you mentioned it is a happy project. Request you to speak about semman or kaavi in detail... or did i miss that part..?!?!? on certain day like ammavasai and so on we don't draw the kolam.... what is the reason behind that.....
Will do... I am going to consciously refrain from the beleif and faith system discussions as it is getting tangential. When we gain more time we will get back to it..
It’s about getting the water proportion right. You can test it out by drawing some ezhais and waiting for it to dry.. if it’s too watery, it will get too flaky.. so beware that too !
There's a whole step missing! The rice was soaked, and then suddenly it is a paste. very important to see how it went from rice and water to something with the right consistency. was it blended in a blender? your audience needs to see jow much water, also, and how much rice.
Wow wonderful info as always. The process looks lil tideous and more work than the powder kolam. Curious and eagerly waiting for the next video for the drawing process as I always thought that this is done through paint brush. I wish I could see the top shot of the bowl you were mixing in. 😁
This process is tideous, however exceptionally satisfying. This is how its done in certain communities, especially for auspicious occasions. Many people have found their own way to create these because the traditional method isn't easy... However, the gripping and release is very very beneficial for one...
What worked for me- it was informative What didn't work- -it's atleast 5 minutes too long -your bowl was too big because if which the maavu was not seen..
Fair enough... we will be recreating some of these... no excuse, but it was shot during lockdown time so we were trying to do the best we can within the timeframe possible

Feedback taken. I am still trying to find that sweet spot of how much is too much for a video. There is just so much to cover, and there is also the fear that it might be too much information at one go... still trying to strike that balance.
