How to PREVENT a DDOS ATTACK on Xbox One and PS5. As mentioned in the beginning, I was trying to record background gameplay for the previous episode of To Catch a Cheater on Xbox LIVE: The Prop Cheater. While I was in a Prop Hunt lobby, a gentleman by the gamertag "JO0KERHEER13" did not like me very much and so, he called me racial slurs (N Word) and other stuff that is clearly in violation of the Xbox LIVE Code of Conduct and the Xbox LIVE Community Standards. He eventually threatened me by saying he was "pinging" my house, which basically means he's gathering information and other scripts which can end up in a DDoS Attack and/or SWATTING.
I KNEW he couldn't DDoS Attack me for a few reasons, and I name those reasons in this video to help anyone that suffers DDoS Attacks.

If you see this gentleman in a game and he threatens you, please know that he most likely can't do anything. Someone saying that they can SHUT your Xbox off is one of the dumbest threats that can be made over Xbox LIVE.
How to PREVENT a DDOS ATTACK/DOX:
1: Get a DYNAMIC IP ADDRESS. Depending on the type you have, it changes every 60 minutes to 24 hours. Call your internet provider for more additional information if they can give you one, or use a third party trusted software for one. A Dynamic IP Address is one of the safest methods of preventing/avoiding a DDoS Attack and getting your information exposed over Xbox LIVE.
2. Get a VPN (Virtual Private Network). You can get one from your internet provider or use a third party one such as Surf Shark. A VPN hides your location and IP Address. Hackers can perform DDoS Attacks by sending millions of packets to your router that would crash it and ultimately disable your internet, hence a Distributed Denial of Service. They do this by finding your router on a list. That shows your location which will tell the hacker what you're IP Address is. For example, a VPN would tell a hacker your location is China while really, your location is the US.
3. Do NOT share your location on Xbox LIVE. This means, do not put your real location in your Xbox Bio. Microsoft should get rid of this option. This is a dead giveaway to an Xbox Hacker/DOXXER that would tell them where you are, without needing to use software to figure it out.
4. Pay Attention to what the Xbox Hacker tells you. If they tell you YOUR information that is false, you will immediately know that the hacker is bluffing.
Use these steps to further help you to prevent a DDoS attack happening to you. A DDoS Attack is a federal offense but is not heavily enforced due to lack of evidence and damages caused; however, with enough evidence, a case can be built. Stay safe!
