The best way to keep ticks off of you is to use THESE tips! Ticks cause lyme disease (and other harmful diseases) so it's important to prevent them from biting your skin in the first place!
Permethrin is a fabric insect repellent treatment that can be sprayed on your hiking boots, clothing, tents, sleeping bags, etc. to prevent ticks in the first place! The treatment lasts 6 weeks or 6 washes and repels ticks, mosquitos and other harmful critters! I hope this video is helpful and keeps you tick free!

My tip from germany: black cumin oil! Absolutely natural. You can apply it directly on your skin or indirectly its having an effect by cooking with it, eating it! For my clothes i do it like allie, but my legs I’m covering with black cumin oil! No more ticks since i make this way!

Listen to someone who had a bad experience with this stuff. Product is a great product but watch how you use it. My bad experience was probably 85% my fault but that said, this stuff is potent, read those directions and follow them strictly! Years ago I used this stuff after a very bad year for ticks in my area. Sprayed all my turkey hunting gear with it, let it dry, stored it and on opening day like all others I got dressed, and tucked my pants leg into my boots and went after the thunder chickens. I wore those same pants for several hunts before washing them. Towards the end of the season, usually 21 to 22 days, my shins started itching really badly. Then they broke out in a serious, and painful itching rash!!!! Long story short, where my pants were tucked in, and it was hot, so I sweated a lot, that stuff soaked into my open pores and really hurt me badly. My skin has never been the same! So, the stuff is good, actually great! But guys use common sense and don't put it on clothing that can be next to skin, or soak in by sweating. I'm only saying this so nobody has to go through what I did by not thinking it through. God bless!
@OutdoorsAllie
@OutdoorsAllie 2 года назад
Dang. I've never experienced anything like that. Sorry to hear that. Have you had adverse reactions with other insecticides as well?
@scotttomlinson5689
@scotttomlinson5689 2 года назад
@@OutdoorsAllie and I hope and pray you never do have an experience like that young lady! It's horrible! No, never really had any other bad experiences with insecticides like that!!! But I'm way more aware of how I use them now. In spring turkey season, trout fishing, and working on my blinds, treestands, and salt lick/feeding stations I basically use deet on my outer clothing and Cutter Skinsensations on my skin. I tuck my pants in my boots, rubber boots, and really haven't had a problem with ticks at all. I have had sensitive skin ever since that experience and so poison ivy etc... is my greater nemesis! Your product your advertising is a very good one just use common sense. Your legs in rubber boots or boots are going to get hot and sweat and if you have that stuff on socks and pant bottoms tucked in its going to get on your skin. Wear your pants untucked if using it, but I would never again put it on my socks. No way!!!! Also, I would only use that stuff on outer clothing, not my t shirt under my outer clothing. Hope this helps someone. God bless! Hey, let's see more of ya Wacker!!!! Once every month or two makes a person worry about ya.

Thanks for the tips.Back in the 50,s 60, and 70,s I stayed in the woods and used nothing to keep them off me.Never saw one on me.These days with our milder winters the insects have been thriving.Some of our big name outdoor folks have given up turkey hunting because their whole families had come down with Lime or Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever.There,s one tick that latches on to you or your dog and the victim becomes unable to move or talk,a very spooky thing.Remove the tick and your ok.Be safe.

Really glad you covered this topic. They are very bad in NC. also. Evaluating land for customers that want to build is part of my job and requires me to have to go into woods/bushes and in the summer can be very thick. I do use Permethrin on my clothes, regular bug spray like Off, and where tall boots. I still get them but it has helped tremendously. Also have to watch out for snakes, especially Copperheads! Lol Fun times!

Another way is to use butter, peanut butter, oil, grease, really anything that you can spread over and around the tick to smoother it. It will release and try to find another area where it can start breathing again.

I used to use the spray you used but given the relatively short effective time frame I have gone with what a lot of my lumber and forester buds are doing... The actually send their clothes out to a company called "insect shield" and they pressurize wash with the same spray compound you use along with a mending formula that nearly gets you an entire year... It cost us about 75 bucks each but to all the foresters along with folks like you and I that just can't stay out of the woods lol it is well worth it.. .very important topic and thanks for covering... peace and have a great summer from the Reed Farm in fryburg pa

I always rubbing alcohol after I get bit. Lyme disease is a bacteria it probably helps allot if you catch it early, 70% ethanol would work too, also if you get food grade ethanol 70% it not only works as a disinfectant but it doubles as portable vodka just dilute in a 1/1 ratio with water. Just make sure it’s not more then 75% or it evaporates to quickly and doesn’t fully disinfect.

😧Wear nitrile gloves when you apply Permethrin. While in some forms, it's actually used as a topical ointment, when used in tick sprays, it's aggravating to the skin and FYI, DEET destroys gear (nylons, polyesters, spandex, etc...). Picaridin however is safe for contact with garments.

I'm very curious as to if anyone including you Allie, can explain how Lyme disease came about. 1 hint, WW2. Also check your state to see if your area has Alpha-Gal. Get it from the lonestar tick and it makes you allergic to red meat especially cow meat or anything from a cow. Permethrin is a life saver. All Army uniforms when I was in 2007-2020, came from the uniform factory with permethrin basically in the fibers of the uniform and if I remember right it was good for 70 washes then have to reapply to the uniform. We also used 95% deet. Stuff burns like hell on the skin but it sure worked.
