How to preview MIDI files Logic X and Mac OS 

Studio One allows previewing any file format, good tip for Logic.

Thank you for this workaround!! A couple years ago I sent apple logic pro a request for them to add the ability to audition midi inside of logic like in ableton and to the ability to search for plugins natively in logic as well. Currently there’s no search bar for plugins

with MidiPlayerX you can preview the midi files from the Synths within logic

My prediction, logic 14, instead of fixing the browser and plugin search, they’ve added an “ai” compressor, eq, guitar, horns, vocals and “ai” mixing and mastering. Oh, and don’t forget “ai” song creation, where you click on a drop down menu to select from a preset list of moods. They’ve also added the ability to import a movie from RU-vid and extract the audio, and the ability to auto-name tracks. Still no drag and drop though. Am I very far off? 🎹♥️

It's crazy that its quicker for an AI to compose a new track than it is to preview a midi file!? 🤯

This is fine, but it doesn't allow you to preview midi files in the actual instrument/sound you are looking for. It seems to just make the midi sound in keyboard, and I want drums. If there's a work around I'd love to know.

Whoa BIG HACK! Thanks man!

This absolutely kills workflow IMHO, even if it works nicely. You have to leave LPX, go to finder, preview etc. - the faster method is to open your live loop view, grab a bunch of Midi clips (i do this regularily with more than 30 MIdi files at once) from your LPX browser and drag them ALL to your live loop grid track. They will be arranged SIDE BY SIDE and you can click through them all in perfect timing and with the instrument inserted on the track, may it be Serum or a Piano. If you have made your selection just pull them over to the arrange view and done. Jm2c :)

The free NS MIDI player is not working for me. Do I need to upgrade to the paid player to get it to work like the one in the video?

Your content and works are INSANELY GOOD!!! I downloaded one of your free called "Origins for Vital" and I am obsessed with it! I'm just curious about one thing. I noticed that it has ESW - Origins which is for OSCs in the Vital synth. So can I use them for making my own sound and later sell my *complete* sound? Thank you in a advance!

This is cool! But I landed here trying to audition audio files (FX etc) while in logic x - until now i have to preview by opening them in apple music -- do you have a workaround for that too?

This used to be a feature built into macOS… I was able to preview my midi files from the finder. I use to do it all the time. as I have like 9gb of Midi
