As a newbie in the balloon industry, I can surely say that out of the many videos I've seen, yours is by far one of the most helpful and complete. Thank you so much Rach! And, obviously, is you can keep sharing knowledge with us, it would be amazing!
I started watching your videos just to learn how to make a special balloon arch for my mom’s 85th birthday party. Well you’re videos are so much better than anything else out there that I really got hooked and started coming up with my own ideas and now I am seriously thinking of starting my own business, completely modeled after you! You are so good at making everything look fun and easy while still being realistic! You are a fabulous teacher and motivator! You should teach classes at convention’s for large groups, especially charity type groups that can’t afford to pay someone else to do what they could do for themselves if they only knew how. Before retiring I was a foster parent and we would plan huge picnics and parties for the kids. We always wanted, but just couldn’t afford those big beautiful balloon displays. We were all so intimidated by the beauty and price that we were all so sure that they must be incredibly difficult, so we never even thought about doing it ourselves. Boy, I sure wish we’d had your videos back then! The kid’s would have loved it! So do the world a favor and keep on teaching! Thank you so much, you are absolutely THE BEST!!!!
Oh my gosh Robin what a wonderful message!!! Thank you so much for your kind words. I am so so glad you’re finding the videos helpful!! 🤍🤍 this was the best thing to wake up and start my day to. 🥹 so glad you’re here now! XOXO, Rach
Hi Rachel! I love these videos that speak directly to artists 😊 I would love to see your scaled pricing with examples if you have the time for a video like that! thank you for sharing! In a future video, would you be able to share some of the following things? I live in a town where I’m the only one styling balloons so I’d love to see what others are doing! 🎈what do your quotes look like? what is an absolute for what to include on a quote? 🎈would you be willing to share your spreadsheet of how you calculate what the cost to you is? 🎈what questions do you ask when a client wants to book with you? What format do you use to ask- google forms, dm, email, etc.? I hope this isn’t too much! Thank you so much 😊
Hey girl! Thanks so much for all the feedback! I will see what I can do on these 🤔💭 I also wasn’t aware of other balloon artists in my area when I started so I did a lot of research just on other artists in general, in other areas. I will have some things launching early next year that may help! XOXO, Rach
Yes 🙏please. We need more videos from you on pricing. I love the way you explain everything in all your videos, very informative but simple to understand especially for a newbie. Seriously!!! Thank you for sharing 🌸
I thank you so much for this content on pricing!! I recently started a balloon business and I needed clarity on how to price so this video is definitely great for newbies. I would love to see more, keep ‘‘em coming 😊
I’m very new to the balloon industry and I’m loving it. I will be doing my first party soon for my daughters baby shower. I’ve been trying to educate myself with RU-vid videos. I’ve found lots of helpful ones. I must say that your YT channel is by far the best one I’ve seen. So great fun for u and all your help that you give to the community. I hope one day u can do a video covering some custom color “double balloons” I think that’s where I’ll have the hardest time. Looking forward to more content of tips and tricks ❤️ again ty for sharing🙏🏼😘
Oh what a lovely comment Jazz, thanks so much! So glad to hear it’s been helpful! I actually do have two videos on custom colors, both in the balloon garland basics series playlist on my channel! Best of luck to you and see you around! XOXO, Rach
I'd love to see examples of garlands and what you charge for them. Also what you would of price them at when you first started vs now. Love your videos thanks for all the information!
Thanks Rachel. It’s great to be reassured re pricing. Like u I am priced middle range. If people think I’m too expensive I refer them to the party chains where they may get it cheaper but it’s not as customised.
You are soo funny. I love the info ℹ️ I am new to this. Now about the loop thing. I didn’t even notice it until I saw the “warning” then I was looking for it 😢… mmmkay❤
I think you are a sweetheart and have wonderful tips and advice!! I don't mean this in a bad way, but it is hard for me to keep up with you as you talk very fast, lol. There are a few times that you slow down and it's great. Again I just wanted to mention as I'm not sure if I can continue to follow you. But again your topics and arrangements are wonderful!!!
Omg thanks so much for takings the time to really break things down this is by far the most easy to follow and understandable starting point in pricing so far I have been doing materials + labor and then multiplying by 2 wich is ok sometimes but some times my prices don't seem reasonable this way doing it by feet and level of service will not only cover me but also my client! ❤❤❤❤ is there any way you could kinda go into how u stared putting together your contact that would be so helpful ❤ thanks in advance and I appreciate all your help
Hey Jai!! So glad you found it helpful! I'm obsessed with pricing by feet, I swear I'll never go back to any other way! haha and I do have a Q&A video where I talk about building my portfolio and my client base - hope it helps!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mMWHcRpiBEI.html XOXO, Rach
I do per garland 6 to 8 feet then have the buyer pick up!. The garland are small or med balloons and add on $ for any decor like leaves or flowers.it works out great I make the garlands in about 20 - 30 min so the price comes out to $60 per hour.
Hi, thank you for all your information. This is great. I have an order and I am confused on how to price. I it a table top arch with 7 colors. Blown up with air. How would I price this? I have an example if I can send that to you.
Thanks! Great information. I'm new at this, and this is very helpful. $20-$25 per foot seems to be around the average that I've found, but how much do you charge when the customer buys their own balloons? I need to blow them up, transport them to the venue, install the arch and then break it down. I'm at a loss as to what to charge. Help....
Ill be making my first garland soon for a family party (probably an eight or ten foot) but I have no idea how many balloons Im going to need for it. How do you figure this out? Or if you have a video you can steer me to that would be great! TY
Great video! I have a question, do you keep the props like the pole stand, flowers, streamers, curtains, etc after the party or leave it with the customers?
Ahahaha I so do the same, I always compare prices with other markets in other states in Australia 🇦🇺 😅 just for a price guide or so that I'm not ripping people off
Hey Rene! I talk a lot about getting started in this video, it might help give you some pointers on landing those initial clients and what is or isn't worth it for you: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mMWHcRpiBEI.html XOXO, Rach
Hey Curtisia! I'm not quite sure how to answer this... I built it myself using Beaver Builder, I hope that's helpful! I know there's a lot of DIY site builders out there that make it pretty simple : ) XOXO, Rach
Hi Nora, best of luck to you! I don't know of a specific resource available on that, I just kind of made my own thing covering the points that had come up for me on it with previous customers. It wasn't written in legalese or anything, more of an informal contract or a formal agreement going over the rates, the scope of work, what I was and wasn't liable for, etc. XOXO, Rach
Hi Tami, if I recall correctly, it was fairly easy to do, I just followed the steps. Google likes to make things pretty easy for the most part : ) XOXO, Rach
Hi Marissa, that's such a good question! Honestly, a lot of it is just trial/practice/experience, but in my agreement (basically a contract) I have a minimum estimated length, with the caveat that if it is longer, it is priced out at $X per foot. XOXO, Rach
Did you say balloon booty? :) I remember my first corporate job, I did a site visit to show them the actual inflated balloons in the company colors. Install day, halfway through, the manager asked me to remove one of the colors because it looked like a gender reveal. After I cut those sections out, it of course changed the entire shape of what I was designing :( They were still pleased, but I wasn't. Fortunately they paid up front so the size difference was on them. Would that have been the 'pain in the ass' client you mentioned?
hahahaha!!! I believe the exact words were "big ole bustly booty" LOL Oh mannnnnnn I hear you!!! I hate so much when it gets changed onsite but as long as they're happy with it that's what's most important. But yeah, you'd already bought the supplies and done the work, good thing they paid up front! I'll let you decide what's a pain and what isn't 😜😇 XOXO, Rach
Hey Angela! Not sure where you're located, your best bet is probably to Google it cause I think a few places are out of stock rn, but I think I've seen it at Bargain Balloons & All American Balloons. XOXO, Rach
Hey Carol, I can understand that. Personally I would start competitively to get myself a foot in the door and some word of mouth and build that portfolio. Cut some good deals on jobs you will be proud of with the agreement they promote you to their friends and family, etc. And then work out a pricing system that is both profitable and fair along the way. Hope that helps! XOXO, Rach
Hi Tanzania, I don't have any names offhand, but try searching FB for balloon groups, custom balloon colors, etc. and I'm sure you'll find some active, larger ones! XOXO, Rach
Thanks Amanda! I know there are a lot of ways to do it, and a lot of factors to consider (add ons, etc.) but I tried to include as much as possible without getting too complicated on it 😘So glad it's helpful! XOXO, Rach
