Ok y’all! I’ve promised this video AND HERE. IT. IS!
I wanted to share with you how I price my wreaths and show you how I break down the cost. I’ll even talk about how to price your ribbon by the INCH! Yup! I’m pricing each pipe cleaner that you’ll use too.
If you’re in the business of selling your wreaths, or any handmade item, you MUST know what your bare minimum price is for your masterpiece. You have to know what you have spent to make your goods or else you will NEVER make a profit and get ahead. That’s the hard cold truth.
Now these are all just my OPINIONS AND SUGGESTIONS. Please know that you are able to charge whatever it is that your heart desires. ❤️ I want you to be comfortable with your price.
Of course if you have any questions, please feel free to ask! I’ll be doing a part 2 to this video once I have the wreath completed that I mention in this video.
Thank you so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed this video! If you love what you’re watching, please LIKE, SUBSCRIBE and hit that NOTIFICATION bell to stay up to date with all the fun stuff happening around here.

I love the dark blue color. This actually used to be my bedroom. It was dark blue, white and gold.

I started making wreaths barely this February and made several for Easter but i really never knew how to price them. This video n all your videos have been really helpful to me. Everything you talk about are things that have really happened to me. Sometimes i think my wreaths are not as pretty but when other ppl see them, they think they’re beautiful ☺️. Thank you for always taking the time to make these videos. They are so fun n I enjoy watching you.

Yay! I'm glad that this tutorial helped! I really didn't know how to price them either when I first started and I was not getting nearly what they were worth! I don't want anyone else to make that same mistake.

So are you saying you only make a $7 profit on this wreath?? That hardly seems worth it. Or did I misunderstand?

That’s my understanding as well but I KNOW that can’t be right lol

Making wreaths is fun. I give them as gifts and for fundraisers at church. If I started selling them wouldn't I have to add my income tax, the box to ship in, and gas to pick up my material. I have to drive 45 minutes 1way to a craft store.

Wreath making is fun and it could be a source of income too! When it comes to adding tax, it's up to you. I have my wreaths in my shop in a vendor mall so the business owner takes care of the tax for me. I do however have to pay taxes on the money I get paid for one. When I sell privately or at a craft fair/market, I do not charge tax. And yes, transportation to get materials is costly. I, like you, have to drive far to get my materials since I live in a rural town. It's totally up to you to include that cost into your price. I, myself, do not. I take that as part of my business cost just like I do with my electric bill. This tutorial is just an example of my way to price. I always encourage folks to price their goods how they see fit. Add or subtract whatever makes sense to you. :) I want everyone to feel comfortable in selling.

Is the price of the products taxable during tax season.

I believe so. Whatever you sell it for is counted as income.

You must be joking going to pay yourself $4.50 to make that wreath?? How about your gas and time running around collecting all the materials the Creative Energy and time it took for searching through the internet to find just the perfect things to add, how about the time it takes just to keep your items organized and clean up time and your light bill and electricity for hot glue guns etc and taking out the trash recycling sweeping tools snippers scissors Clippers......etc. I make hand pulled Grapevine wreaths that I use my physical body to pull the vines from the trees and wrap them pick out the accent sticks paint them spend hours on the internet searching for the right additions hours physically at craft stores and running around to find the perfect compliments,,, Minecraft is slightly different than yours it takes a lot of physical energy but I would take that price you got of 32.50 times two to get price. That's what retail stores do purchase something for a certain price they calculate in the time energy employee wages everything I've said above and that times two covers at least half of expenses then the rest which is still quite minimal is profit. Tell me dear lady... am I'm wrong about this? My full-time job is a garden designer and if I didn't calculate in all my other expenses into my hourly and product I wouldn't make enough money for all of any of it to be worth the effort it takes to be a creative soul

So is she saying to sell that Wreath for 40.00?

@@melissareynolds56 I can't remember what she sold it for but I calculated her profit was four dollars and fifty cents... And maybe I Didn't ramble at the mouth a bit because I wasn't in shock...haaa. But really I just want everyone to be paid what they are worth

I don’t think she got to how much to charge in total. There was supposed to be a part 2, (I looked and don’t see it). I think this was more to show how much the cost of materials ads up and to explain to folks how much money they’re losing by not calculating all of that. She said she profits $7 a wreath/half California’s minimum wage. Personally, I think that’s still too low, but that’s just me. I feel if people want better quality and designs than the junk you can buy at stores, they need to pay for it. That’s the mindset I had when I sold my paintings and it’s how I intend to sell my wreaths also. (I stopped painting as often because of the plastic involved. I use as much of the waste from florals as I can, small stems for making picks and large ones for plant supports lol). Granted different arena and market, my profit per painting was between $250 and $500, more for commissions. Wreaths, I plan on $20. With giving a healthy budget for shipping and all other expenses, that still puts me in the ballpark for what similar wreaths are selling for on Etsy. Bottom line, I agree with you fully. Your prices should be profitable from the start. Lucrative, if you can get it there.

I agree totally. My problem is that I use alot of flowers on my wreaths, and it really adds up. Makes the wreaths expensive.
