Start to finish printed Logo applied on concrete. How the project got started, how I set it up in Flexi what material I used PLUS the part where I messed up. This is a very long "in depth" video I try to cover everything and even got a taste of the material durability at the end.

Welcome Robert and thank you! I would LOVE to learn a little thing or two from ya! That is what I want to do but just don't have the "knack" for it. I can't draw a stick figure let alone freehand anything. My strong suit is working with flexi, I've been using it for about 16+ years now. Sometimes ya just gotta start somewhere and go for it.

only way to get wet is to get in the water! my mentor started painting signs in the late 50's and he taught me this "I can teach a monkey to use a paint brush, I cant teach a money style and layout design"@@TheSignGuy

Turned out looking really good at the end. I have not yet messed around with printing jobs that big that require panels because it looks super intimidating to me. However I bought some cheapy wallpaper media, so I might give it a go.
@TheSignGuy
@TheSignGuy 2 года назад
Thank you Mike! It is very intimidating, at first. You should try smaller projects with paneling at first. It does not have to be huge but just to wrap your head around how it all works. Having made mistakes in the past helps to prevent them in the future. It's always more complicated then the customer thinks, right? LOL BTW, I'm FAR from a pro on this but sometimes you just gotta send it!

If I did not point it out I doubt anyone would have known. The material never creased like other material would have, I'm sure that help hide a lot as well. I knew and I guess that bothered me more then anything, but again I still make mistakes. Thanks for stopping by and watching!

Yeah buddy, it was a little more difficult then I thought. Sometimes you just gotta go for it and let your experience prevail. The second part was not a happy ending... LOL but I checked on it over the weekend and it's holding on and going strong!

I've been wanting to do a project like this. Great vid! I really love the tip about reducing the unwasted material in flexi. I didn't realize you could do that with the panels.

Great job on the print and install! For the fix, you could always just trim around the signed piece, replace the whole top panel, and cut out the new fin to fit around the signed fin… just like a puzzle piece. Either way, awesome work! Love the vids!

The county scrapped the repair, they felt like it was a waste of money. The damage was done and it's unsupervised area so they can't stop people from driving, kicking and scuffing it up. It's still holding up pretty good a little fading but over all if it was not abused it would look 100 times better. I'll post up a few picture of what it looks like 6 months later. Thanks for watching Julia!!

Love the videos! How did you trim to the curve? I was half expecting you to feed it into your cutter panel by panel
@TheSignGuy
@TheSignGuy Год назад
I trimmed the material by hand. Cutting that material in the cutter would have wrecked a 60 degree blade and pretty sure tracking for 20 ft would have been off.

GREAT JOB. THANKS FOR POSTING VIDEO. Noticed you didn't use a squeegee. Was wondering if the thickness allows it to lay smoothly? Curious to know how you did the trimming.
@TheSignGuy
@TheSignGuy 2 года назад
Thank you! Well I did not use a squeegee for the big one, the smaller ones on the outside (at the verry end of the video) long story... I did . The smaller two were a very last minute and I used the Big Squeegee and it took minutes to install. Should have done that first. I was worried about tearing the edge of my big squeegee up on the concrete that's why I did not use it the first time. The thickness does allow it to lay flay, and there were some bubbles that the Big Squeegee eliminated. The trimming was with scissors and a OLFA knife.
