What is lovebird mutation?
These mutations are of three distinct types: co-dominant (exemplified by the Orangefaced, Dark and Violet mutations), recessive (exemplified by the Edged Dilute mutation), and sex-linked (exemplified by Lutino, Pallid [also known as Australian Cinnamon], American Cinnamon, and Opaline mutations).
Where do rosy faced lovebirds come from?
Formerly known as Peach-faced, this lovebird is native to dry wooded country in southwestern Africa, up to an elevation of 1500 m (Collar 1997).
Do lovebirds change colors?
These lovebirds have rosy pink or peach-colored faces and throats. This color gets darker as the plumage reaches their foreheads, changing to an orange or red color. The plumage on the rest of their body is a vibrant to dark green.
