Honestly, the way to win in trucking is to get in with a game plan.. and don’t come in with a bunch of debt and financial responsibilities at home.. if you can get in with no bills.. live in your truck, have no car payment and house payment and kids and things at home… then you can work hard for a few years and really save up a ton of money.. a lot of people get into trucking, have car payments, kids, house payments, a stay at home wife.. and they get locked into trucking because they can’t save.. all the money they make they spend on bills at home.. if you can get into trucking with no bills and live on the road full time.. and really save every penny, then you’ll make it out with some money.. if you come into trucking with a bunch of debt and financial obligations at home.. you’ll be a lifer on the road..
He's right trucking ain't long term I plan on saving up 70-100k before leaving and then go to college for a degree.. I'll be damn near 27 years old but in the long run it's more worth it than trucking until 70.
I have all my endorments and 2 years of experience, and I can back that trailer into any dock. Plain and simple ......I hate this job. I love waking up and eating fresh cooked food. Then I like to take my dogs for a walk and go to the gym. After a long day, I want to hang out with friends and family. I still believe this job has been turned into a scam. When I tell people I make 75 thousand dollars a year, they think I'm making good money, but they don't know I have to work 70 hours a week, mess up my sleep schedule, eat garbage and get little to no Exercise.
u don't have to plan all this out before you become a driver to be successful. you can actually take it day by day and it's not rocket science If it's working our for you you kee doing what you doing until you decide to do otherwise or if it's not it just isn't. but it is always good if you're able to plan ahead
I been trucking for a year and I'm making a lot of money. But when anyone asks about it, there first thing I say is to go in with an exit plan. Sustainability isn't ideal for most people in this industry. So stack your bread and fund your dream
Honestly have no plans of becoming a driver but I love these videos. My father is a driver and has been an owner operator most of my life. Been with him on the road a few times. Much respect for the profession.
It’s interesting how far you’ve come at your age. I’m 32 years old and I started in trucking in 2019 October. Fast forward to 2023 now and I’m making $108K-112K a year. $32.10 an hour with Overtime after 45 hours. My health insurance is free and I’m working about 55-57 hours a week. Home daily with weekends off. A couple bonuses at end of year. After buying my 96K house I’m sitting over here maxing my 401K and Roth IRA and stacking my savings. When I say I’m stacking my savings I’m stacking. All cars paid off and no debt. No kids. No marriage. 96K house will be paid off 2024 August and it’s worth about $150K-175K now. After contributing 12% to 401K and maxing Roth IRA and HSA I’m still netting $1230+ a week take home. My job is all drop and hook with 53 dry vans also. Easiest gig I’ve ever had. I’m a success in my own right considering how much I have saved and how fast I’ve grown in three years in trucking. Projected to have over 100K+ in savings by 2025. That’s when I plan to invest like a mad man like you. As I’ll be trying to make trucking into a 40 hour a week career and transition to my business. I’m already gonna rent out my cheap house and buy another which will be another $1200-$1400 in income and start a business. Just not sure what. I have success with my Ebay business and I’m looking to ramp up production once I get more storage space. That’s the only thing stopping me from moving forward. House I’m in is only 1000 Square feet. Trucking changed my life and I’m making crazy good money working M-F. Only thing I’m upset about is I can’t work Sat for more OT 🤣🤣🤣
@@HabituaILineStepper I went through an approved college that offered a cdl course. Paid $1500 to go. Got it all back from company I went in with. So everything was free to get license.
@@AFrugalMindsetWithBrandonLee that’s awesome man. You’re really doing exactly what I’m aiming for! But I’ve been looking into trucking schools and they’ve been in the range of $4k-$5k here in NYC. I want to start soon but I still don’t know shit about pre-trip inspection. Want to at least get that down pat beforehand. My goal is to make close to 6 figures in trucking, for 3-5 years whilst investing in property and stocks
@@HabituaILineStepper Your state likely pays for your schooling you need to call around. It’s likely free for you. Pre-trip will become easy if you study it every day.
I wanna first say God bless you and your family and I thank you for when you were truck driving you motivated me to push forward with it and now I’m a truck driver I’ve been with a new company for about a month and I’m enjoying it I was a shipping coordinator before I became a driver and I just wanted to learn the business from the inside out and I appreciate you for the Motivation and Just for thinking outside of trucking. My goal this year is to save and get into real estate while I’m driving
I found success in trucking is getting big contracts. If you get certain ones you can make $100k/Month which makes you a millionaire before taxes. After taxes...not so much but still worth it. Some people do this hauling fedex, Walmart, intermodal etc. The hardest part is finding these contracts. I agree with you long-term it may not be worth it. There's alot of risk. Crashes and stuff can cost you everything. The worst part is hiring people that don't care. Tearing up your shit. Getting you into something you can't walk away from. Most people in trucking can't leave because they don't know other career possibilities that make that much revenue. I'm thinking maybe a commercial pilot or something is maybe the most obtainable. Maybe van/bus conversions if you can get alot of clients and build quickly(within 90 days or so) also transporting Medical supplies etc.
We cover thousands of miles every week, pretty sure we will find out if there easy money sitting around somewhere 😂Pilots make peanuts compared to trucking. In fact I met ex United airlines pilot driving for mega carrier back in July.
Dude how many people actually catch big contracts? Y’all be making stuff sound easy, knowing damn well it isn’t just that easy! That’s exactly why so many people fail at trucking, listening people like you, thinking they’re about to get rich 😂
@Official Trucking you don't get rich off miles, you get rich off capacity. Big capacity, big money. Think bigger. I know people who will go out and rent 10 trucks but only have 2. Then hire a few owner operators and are making $160k per month. You don't get that running off a load board running otr. These are local runs he does. An airline pilot can make $100-$200k a year or more which is really good money. It's actually safer being in the air. You're more likely to die down here on the road. What did the pilot say about coming to trucking??
Cyber security make over 6 figures from your laptop some many industry's. Family they just have to do there researchs so many industries that make way more money than trucking family
You right bro trucking ain't long term I plan on saving up 70-100k before leaving and then get into college for a degree.. I'll be damn near 27 years old but in the long run it's more worth it than trucking until 70.
Lookin clean bro I’m buying my own truck next month at the age of 21 . You helped me a lot with your knowledge I’m getting into car haulin . Thanks bro for your knowledge that u put out !
I think trucking doesn’t have to be an unhealthy career. Drivers can do workouts while at rest stops, they can take their own produce and cook healthy food in the truck. They don’t wanna do that though, they wanna eat greasy food and be stationary all day
I thought I could do that but bro it’s so fucking hard. I’ve gained 25lbs on the road. Our refrigerators can only take up so much space. Finding a grocery store with decent parking is a challenge too. After driving 10-11 hours a day there’s nothing you want to do but sleep. Honestly I have started changing my eating habits stopping by Walmart’s and doing small workouts at rest areas but it’s fucking hard. I don’t shame those who slouch because man I feel it. But this industry is terrible on health, I hate seeing obese people at the fuel island, shit makes me want to quit and stay home and go back to the gym.
Trucking is a lifestyle. You don’t go in trucking expecting you can mix your previous lifestyle with trucking lifestyle, It will drain you very quickly. You have to rewire your mindset when you become truck driver. Most things you thought it’s important becomes irrelevant. Surround yourself with people that understands your lifestyle. I have meet 81 year old men at truck stop and he says he’s been driving for 52 years. No matter your profession take care your health and it will take care of you. During 11 hours of driving you can stop and walk around every few hours, no one forcing you to sit there all day like those office jobs. You control your break time wether it’s 15 minutes or 5 hours it’s up to you😂 If you have old friends back home they need to become truck drivers or you have to cut ties with them that’s how you defeat the urge to be around friends.
You telling the truth about friends family and the trucking industry trying to box your into this image/role of just being a trucker. It drives me crazy and even caused me to snap on one of my closest friends for always asking me “how’s trucking?”, my life is so much more than that damn truck!
TRF plan. Much love and respect. I have a 2yr old and that shits hard to get back in the truck but I know I have to sacrifice time just to make sure she's good.
This video started off a little slow but it was actually really insightful lol gave me a big realization that everything is like a casino, even jobs like trucking.
The first time I watched his first video I was in training he motivated me now I have three trucks and 2yr old MC but I will soon be home and dispatch this trucks and invest in something else
Thanks brother Ken, I needed to hear this, as confirmation in making my plans & goals! ("Exit Strategy") Keep spittin wisdom! God bless you & all the best in 2023! TRF plan. 💪💝😎
In my opinion I think if you are like in your 20s , if you get a certificate or something to learn how to fix trucks , and then get into trucking, live in the road , no bills , all the money you make after your truck expenses buy more and more trucks with it , yo can achieve big things, like if you make it to get 50 trucks , even if you make 2000 profit each truck , you can make over 100 000 per month, do the math
Trucking is a long term investment, quitting dont make you a winner.Learning the market is what makes you last in anything you're doing. You'll probably get back in cause you just can't let go.
Yea im considering entering the business but didn't plan to have drivers or anything like that I'd learn the business and eventually have my own truck and work largely solo and enter the money I make elsewhere into other things The truck is a tool and can be used when needed
@@shuneughu4244 if you use someone else’s truck. You don’t have to worry about any expenses. No fuel, insurance, breakdowns, tickets, etc. All you have to do is safely get the truck from point A to B. You eliminate all the risk, and take home profit every single time. I’ve had 2 trucks, and I would do it differently if I know what I know now. I’d just be a driver and invest that money in real estate.
In CDL school now 3 weeks Left. 19 years old fam any Advice on how to got bout It sucks I can’t make much Bread since I gotta stay in Nc til 21. But sum Better than Nothing
Trf plan. Youre right. Im Also College grad- retired Social Worker. I work like 8 days out & 2 wks off. So basically i work a little less than 6 months a yr. I make about 62k. When im home- home owner here- i go to the gym & work out. My point is yes, trucking is bad for your heath. I see some of thèse truckers & it saddens me. Hard to get good food, abusive system etc. At this point i Can retiré. Im Now thinking about an trucking & car repair shop as well as a small Latino food restaurant- it might be a food truck- excellent food- no junk at all. I will cater specifically to truckers
Everything he saying is factz, just look at my manz receding hairline, you don’t get that unless you getting to it 🤣🤣, nah fr though listen to my manz, good man right here, giving y’all game, listen up. Peace, love & blessings to you brother
Good stuff as always! Let's rap off line when you grab a moment. I have a few rigs I'm contemplating raffling off. I can see a influencer $100K challenge
This dude is hilarious how to be a trucker he's not a trucker listen to someone successful in the transportation industry he's so successful he's still giving advice when he went to surgical assistant school
You can tell he worries about what people think too much.. at the beginning of his video people people people will always look at you like such and such f*** with people think if you're making money and you're happy that's what success is
Ive had the opportunity of buying a clean used truck from an o/o I run it under a company authority one year later I then I buy a second truck and have someone else drive my trucks while I continue working from home and spend time with friends and family. Financial freedom?
There is a lot of stuff going on in the market simultaneously. From double brokerage issues to fuel prices being outrageous and even to the dispatcher market being flooded with untrained people. At least if these new dispatchers were up to certain standards, truckers would have a much better shot at surviving these tough times. Our truckers cant control most factors in their market, but the one thing that is under the truckers control is the dispatchers they work with. So be smart, ask the right questions when interviewing a dispatcher, and pay attention to the answers they give you. It is much smarter to take one day to interview a few dispatchers than it is to start taking loads from the first dispatcher who calls you. I am working on a basic FAQ for Owner Operators when interviewing dispatchers. I might not cover everything, but it is more than enough to give the OO an idea of what to look for when interviewing. Should be up in a few days... Stay strong truckers, we all depend on you.
If you have your own company. Paying your own taxes doing your own loads you good. That’s what a lot of ppl don’t know. After using other ppl trailers and booking w them you done lost 25k a year easily not including having a truck note. It’s over after that. And that’s not including your other bills.
I'm considering entering the business but I spend most my time alone anyway, and don't see or speak to my family No girlfriend or kids So id use the downtime for other ventures in-between runs, and not have an apartment I have a low overhead so nearly all the money would go to savings Plus I grew up happy to have food in my mouth and fear my family might go homeless because they have terrible money management skills I think trucking is good for people who spend a lot of time in solitude anyway, like the travel, and are ok spending nearly every hour in the truck Plus I am pursuing fine art painting and being in all the different areas of the usa is a great way to make them Because they only take 1-3 hours and are a good way to relax on your downtime
Trucking is a the best easiest business in America 845 billion dollars went in someone pockets . I can 15k truck hope and pray it last two months and make 1900 a day working the ports . But life is a individual sport and u play what ever works for you .
You slow cause this not trucking content. This is my life. Telling a story. You still watching and commenting so at the end of the day you don’t know what you wanna do in life cause you spending time watching another man.
