How to program your Orbit Sprinkler Timer #How to program an Orbit Sprinkler Timer #How to use an Orbit Sprinkler Timer #Easy way to program an Orbit Sprinkler Timer
Much easier to understand than the Orbit video. I felt I needed an engineering degree with the Orbit video. Yours was explained in simpler terms for the average person to understand. Thank you.
Watched a few of these videos about setting up Orbit sprinkler timers and thanks to you, I finally was able to get it done. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
And thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I have more videos on my channel about the sprinkler heads I use and how to use them as well. I also use new timers now you may like that I have on my channel and I think are much better than the one you just set up. A bit more expensive but a lot better. They work with your internet etc and an app to use them. Watch the video and you will see. Regardless great job setting it up yourself 😊
Thank you for helping me to finally figure out how to water twice in the same day. The instructions are not particularly clear so your video helpd me to realize that I can water twice in a day and it can be easily set by using the a b and c at the top. Thank you from all of us mentally challenged people also known as 70 year olds.
Hahaha. Well my Dad is in his 70’s and if not for you elders we wouldn’t even know which way was up. It is a pleasure to help you sir I hope you have a great day. Enjoy the sprinkler timers and if you ever want to try some better ones subscribe to me and look at one of my new videos on timers I’m using now. The review is just like all my videos I paid for them myself and don’t make a penny from RU-vid. I just enjoy helping people and I will tell you these timers are much better. :)
Thank you. I installed this timer last Spring on a Mist Bench I built in the greenhouse. I used it to water overhead micro sprinklers for three minutes at a time, every hour on the hour, so twenty-four times a day. I tossed the manual and couldn't remember how to program the "How Often" setting this year. Thanks for the overview! The Mist Bench works great for cuttings and various propagation methods. This is an inexpensive timer that works great!!
Sandy Smock Wow that’s a great idea. Well I’m glad the video helped you remember how to do it. Gotta love RU-vid and all the people that share ideas. That’s why I like making videos as well. Stay safe during this corona virus time. :)
You Sir, have save me a lot of money and a HUGE Headache!! Your instructions on this product are the Best here bar none!! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You.
Thank you very much! I found this video to be much more helpful than others about this same product. I've been using the Orbit timers for awhile and I find they operate well for 3 to 4 years.
If I had a dollar every time I’ve heard that. Lol. Glad it helped and guess what. I use my own videos sometimes for the same reason. Lol 😂 Hope your a subscriber because I’m literally 5 away from finally getting a dime for all my help. Lol 😂
I see the difference between Orbit and Melnor now. Orbit allows programming one start time with consecutive operation of the stations, if you want to program both. Melnor allows completely independent programming of stations. That was my confusion. Your vid is as good as it gets. Apologies.
This was so great! Thank you! I think I had to play the video sponsored by Orbit ten times and STILL couldn't figure it out! Your instructions were stated clearly and slowly and loved the closeups. Thanks again!!!
I watched your video and I think I have fixed my problems. I didn't understand the difference between stations and that ABC. Now I get it that the ABC are just different start times so I can water several times a day if I choose to. I was having Station 2 come on and water came rushing through the hose. Now I have nothing coming on at Station 2 and that fixed those issues. Thank you!!
Glad the video helped and I do have another one as well on my channel that may help even more if you look for it through my channel. May give you some more pointers. Enjoy the sprinkler timer. I also have another timer I have switched too that you may like to see as well. Has so many more things you can do with it and it’s wireless so you can use it from anywhere.
Thanks for the video. The part you had to backtrack was also useful to watch. I read the darn directions several times and never could set it. Your Very Helpful video did the trick!
I have the single zone version of this that came from Lowe's. I cannot find a video on it. Mines gray just like yours. The black ring is on the outside. Programming is similar. I don't have days of the week and ABCs. Pretty much shaped the same. Mines out on the hose at a corner of my yard. I notched a shallow bucket to cover it. Came with a concrete patch kit. Mine does great and doesn't leak. I lost about 2 feet on the spray distance on mine. Being on a hose like a washing machine, I don't need a water hammer protector. So far no issues. 🐀🐾
Thanks a lot for you video, the way you go about it is a lot easier to understand than the instructions, I have been continually setting it up without much luck, however now it is doing the job I wanted it todo as I am not always home when the watering needs doing.
Glad it worked out for you and thank you for the comment. Most people just take the information and run. It’s nice to hear when the time you take to help people matters to them so thank you. Happy watering 😊. Btw, if you ever don’t use that anymore I swapped to b-hyve sprinkler timers and they are awesome. I have a video on my channel talking about them. You can do everything with your phone as long as you have Wi-Fi. If your on a well it’s great too because you will know how much water your using. They also work with your local weather and won’t water the lawn if you get rain. I used them for one season and loved them but just pulled the trigger and put in irrigation last year. If I ever had to use timers again I would definitely use b-hyve next time. Just wanted to give you the info. Thanks again for the comment.
I found that the best way to get these to work is to find a piece of paper with the price and store name and use that to return it and get one that does not suck.
Well thanks for the comment and I’m sorry you are having a hard time with this. I do have a video on a much better timer. It’s a bit more expensive but works flawlessly and is what I use now myself. There is an app for it and it works on your wifi. Shows you how much water your using as well as many other things. It even uses local weather if set up that way to decide if it should water or not. They are amazing I hope you check them out and let me know in the comments. If you need any help let me know as well.
Awesome. Couldn’t figure out what ABC was for in relation to station 1 and station 2. Makes so much more sense and great I can have each going at a different time and for a different length of time.
Thanks, I hope that I finally got it set. Ive been using these for years, but this is a new model. Kinda felt like an idiot because I couldn't get it set. Oh, yeah, couldn't find my paper work. Thanks youtube. Thanks for the video.
They changed from a simple rotary dial that worked well. These are so hard to program and remember how to program. Also, if they leak, the water gets into the battery compartment, the batteries short out and corrode the battery box area. This has happened to most of my Orbits at one time or another. Maybe they should seal the battery box from water with a gasket!
My understanding is when setting the stations and you have keyed in the start time all you need to do is set how long for station 1 THEN touch station 2 and set how long. When unit comes on it will turn on station 1 for the period of time you set for #1 then will automatically change to station 2 for the length of time you entered for station 2 then it will cut off automatically.. The ( A B C ) is only for when watering within another time of day up to 3 times (A B C) within one day. Yes it will work the way it is explained in this video but to me it makes for a little more confusing when trying to program. Thanks for your video,it is slower and easier to follow than Orbits. The first duel unit I purchased was defective in that the water never cut off in station 1 when trying to go to station 2. In talking to Orbit help line I learned really how it was to be programmed but I don't think that had anything to do with the malfunctioning of my 1st unit which was replaced by Orbit.
I so wanted this theory to work, but alas it was not to be. Station 1 came on for an hour, then that was it. No station 2 following. Back to setting A & B to get station 1 & 2 to work at different times
Thank you for the comment. I’m sorry my explanation didn’t help you but I am certainly glad you found something that did 😊. It’s why I create videos. I just like trying to help people when I find things challenging myself. Good luck with the new timer. ⏱️
We've been to the moon. We navigate our smart phones daily. Surely Orbit can design a sprinkler timer that doesn't make one want to scream and tear ones hair out. I will never buy one of these again. I do not recommend this product.
Not sure if you ran into the same issue I set mine up exactly the same way. Both sprinkler outlets run twice back to back so left goes on for a half shuts off right goes on for a half shuts off it then does the same thing again both times then finally shuts off for good. I reset the timer did it exactly how you did and still getting a double watering
Hi Carl, I understand what you are saying but something is wrong. One step must be messed up or your timer is defective. I am guessing one step is off slightly. When deciding how often I am guessing is where the issue is. Please watch the video again and you will see that part explained. Also, I have another video on the same timer that you can watch if you search through my videos. I am guessing between the two videos you will figure it out :). Good luck and thanks for watching and hopefully subscribing 😁🤙🏻
any idea how to fix perhaps the LCD screen (OFF is partly coming up) or how to fix the dial? Took ours off to change the battery and now turning the dial doesn't turn it on - off stays on the screen.
Hello Angeline, I am guessing you replaced the batteries. If not I would start there. Second, if you have hard water I would try cleaning the dial with something that cleans hard water off things. Off the top of my head I think vinegar is one of them but you can Google it. Lastly, if it is broken beyond repair you should look at my other videos on new timers. I use them now and they are much better. They are wireless and you can use an app to set them up etc. You can see how much water your using and they even sync with your local weather. So depending how you set them up they will not run if it’s going to rain or if it’s raining. You will also see how much water you are putting on your lawn. It’s a much better solution for sure. Look through my videos they are called Bhive timers. I hope this helps please let me know how the cleaning goes and battery if that helps. The comments help everyone for sure. Thanks again for the comment.
Wow thanks so much for the nice comment. I do try my best to explain as best I can. It’s nice to hear my videos help others. You also help when you comment like this because others believe the video will help. So thank you for the great comment and I’m so happy my video helped you. Happy sprinkling 😊🤙🏻
Thanks for the question. It won’t run both at the same time. It has a valve inside that switches between the two. There is no way to get both to run at the same time. Makes sense honestly because even a sprinkler system works the same way. They are called zones and with zones they just make how ever many heads on the zones run. You could put a valve on each spot allowing more hoses but I’m sure you would lose pressure but it could be done. (Example) you could buy a two to one valve and put it on one of those outlets turning it into two hoses and same for other side. They also have 4 to one valves. That’s the only thing I can think of to help you. Hope that helps and happy watering.
Hello, hope you still receive and answer comments. I must say I echo many of the same comments. Very helpful! I have a question and hope you can help. I am currently set up for Station 1 to come on everyday for 10 minutes at 10am, A, 10 minutes 2pm, B, and 10 minutes 6pm, C. Is it possible to set up more time slots (10pm)? Hope I asked that so you can understand my question. Thanks in advance!
Hello Joe, To answer your question as best I can. You can set up more times but it’s difficult. If you would like me to make a video on that let me know. Also, with this timer you are very limited in what you can do. In my honest opinion, ditch these and buy BeeHive timers. The amount of things you can do are limitless. They work on wifi and an app on your phone. You could be in Mexico and turn on your sprinklers. I have a video on my channel about these you should watch. If you do I am certain you will switch and get your money back for these. And in no way am I sponsored or affiliated with them. As with all my videos it’s just me trial and error and helping people. :)
Just pull it out from the back. If you put new batteries back in quickly it should just have saved all your settings. If it’s been a while it still may but I’m not sure. If not just watch the video again to reprogram it. Thanks for the question :)
Probably a dumb question but after setting this up, I turn on the water at the faucet and leave it running until winter? Does the orbit device prevent the pressure from getting to the hose?
Hi thanks for watching the video. Yes there are valves inside that prevent water from flowing until the timer goes off. I do the same and leave the spigot 🚰 on the entire summer.
You may have notice when you went to use yours that both stations started at the same time. You didn't actually set the stations. Yours shows 23 hours until station 1 and 2 launch. Just an observation, as I had similar issues when I first set mine up. Thanks for posting up a video though. Im an IT engineer, and wanted to pull my hair out the first time I used these. Lol
Rudy Escamilla Hi Rudy, you can only run one at a time. There is a ball valve inside and it blocks the other side when either is in operation. This is so you get maximum range and pressure from each sprinkler head.
Hey brother I just got this, it seems like the warer pressure is extremely low compared to just using my hose. Any ideas on why they may be? I'm only running one hose at the moment.
Hi thanks for the comment. I’m scratching my head on this but not knowing if your on a well or not here are some ideas. Make sure nobody was using water while you were trying to run the sprinkler. Like washing machine or shower etc. When I use them if anyone takes a shower or does dishes the same happens. Other than that try different settings on the sprinkler head if you have an orbit sprinkler head. I have some videos on those as well. Let me know how this helps or not please. 😁🤙🏻
Read my previous review. I lost a little distance. The Orbit gray heads that are fixed has a limit of (3) per zone. Also, both zones cannot run at the same time. The sprinklers will stall.
I am unable to get set time and station time to set up together, that is if I want A and station 1 to run then if I want B and station 2 to run this will just not happen, can anyone suggest a solution for me to sort out this frustrating problem. Or do I just take it back to where I purchased it from. Also last season it worked very well, what could possibly have gone wrong. Jack Grice
I still cannot get this to work properly. Now it won't even water once automatically but will if I turn on manual and still no suggestions. I live in New Zealand so it is difficult to get in touch with Orbit.
4TH TIME TRYING TO FOLLOW THIS. CANT BE DONE. IF YOU HAVE ONE START TIME WHY DO YOU HAVE TO SET TWO OTHER START TIMES (b AND c) How OFTEN SETTING SHOULD COVER THAT. BUT UNFORTUNATELY CLICKING TO HOW OFTEN PRODUCES ONLY A BLANK SCREEN... THIS IS NEEDLESSLY COMPLICATED. I CANN0T RECOMMEND IT.
MIKE BLYSKAL sorry this is giving you trouble. Rite now I have A and B set to once a day. A is bank 1 and B is bank 2. Don’t worry about C. Once this is set just choose which days you want it to turn on and put the box on each day you want it too.
My display just stopped working? Any ideas? Checked batteries. Obviously they are made to be outside but noticed after it got wet (during sprinklering) it stopped displaying. Any ideas?
I am guessing maybe you put the batteries in wrong or they are not new batteries. If you did all those things correctly then I am guessing that maybe water got inside somehow. You can return them for up to 7 years I think. I made this video a while ago and sorry I haven't responded sooner. If you saved your upc codes off the package you can probably return it as is. I always save the receipt as well.
Hey guys, The reason I love this Orbit timer, as well as the sprinkler heads is because they work great, but also have a 6 year warranty. As long as you save your receipt, and the upc code you can bring it back to the store for a full refund, or a replacement. Now that is what I call WORTH IT.... I had the same issue with my timer. I brought it back, and they replaced it with no questions.
Sorry to hear that. Did you have your sales slip, and UPC? I live in NH, and had no issue getting a replacement. They just send it back to the manufacturer as a defect. They lose no money when they do that, and it's good customer service. Either way I guess you could call ORBIT, and I am sure they will send you a new one.
I am not sure honestly but they do have a good return policy :). Wouldn’t hurt to try and I bet it would work. The longer the hose the less pressure at the sprinkler head so remember that as well. If it works and you try it please let us know. Thanks for the comment :)
i can't see where it tells you to program the second lower outlet after setting the first one. Actually the video has a voice over like a round (row row row your boat where it repeats part of the way in the audio
Sladeofdark It will do both but you have to set both up properly. You may have not set the second one up correctly and the second one may not be watering at all
I can't get this to work properly. It has taken days and it is still not going. I cannot get station B to kick in. It all looks OK on the programme. What is happening? It is so frustrating and time consuming and I am still having to water by hand. Anyone out there who can help?.
+NFRDIVR does this keep both stations on by default. example for A I had both stations on. 1 was set to 6 minstrel and the 2 to 12 mins. It appears both stations come on for a total of 14 mins.
I never got mine to work either. Gave up and just put a Y in and used two hoses on the one outlet and put a plug on the other outlet. UGH... I love Gilmore, but they aren't offered at my local hardware store.
Worst timer programming uni t I’ve ever owned. You confused me. ABC are different times for each station, ex. Station one can come on three times a day and two can be set for one, two or three. You confuse it enough for me to toss this thing. Make another video without confusion. It’s a bad enough product without having you question what you are doing. Sorry. I’m frustrated as all heck
SeeMooreVids Hi sorry it was confusing to you. The first time I made the video I had just figured it out myself. If you subscribe to my channel you will see a few more that I have done on it. You also may like some of the other content I have as well. I just created a free store for my subscribers to get free tv shows and movies if you have an amazon fire tv stick. Please subscribe and watch the other videos to try to help you solve the setup issues. If you still need help I will make another video. :)
Your instruction is not perfect but useful … we learn a few things from your hiccups. No problems… this thing is easier after a FEW set ups and many mistakes. But it is just water!!!
