Great video👍✍..teacher I've heard lot of times native speakers saying (YoU KnOw what I mean ....bla bla bla) what does that mean ..is it mean Do YoU KnoW what I mean or what?would you like to do about fillers in next video?
@EnglishwithLiz
@EnglishwithLiz 2 года назад
Yes, brain, it's a filler, meaning - do you understand what I'm getting at? By saying this phrase you're checking that both you and your conversation partner know what you're talking about, so you don't have to explain further. Of course, it is sometimes over-used and some people say it at the end of every sentence when it has no meaning at all, except to fill the silence or to stimulate further conversation. Hop ehtis helps :)

And you are our teacher online on RU-vid. Living in a country where people don't speak english ,its very dificult. Soon I m going to search a job and my pronunciation is not very good, and I have with me audio books and BBC learning english, which one should I use to perfect my english speaking please what should I use the most. ?
@EnglishwithLiz
@EnglishwithLiz 2 года назад
Hi Youssef. Reading and listening at the same time is an excellent way of learning how words are spelt at the same time as their pronunciation. You will also pick up good sentence structures if you can memorise some of the phrases. The most important thing is that you are understood, so don't rush your learning. Little and often is the best way 😊

Dear teacher, is it possible to change my accent to British accent?
@EnglishwithLiz
@EnglishwithLiz 2 года назад
Yes, but it takes a long time. The best way is to read and listen at the same time. Try my storytelling videos here: ru-vid.com/group/PLe6nq1U9Qfay3idmRhkQb8Z09Gi1MuTZq

Hey Liz can you please make a video on how brits pronounce their d's at the END of words like just naturally, it's the specifics of the release of the 'd' consonant at the end of the words that I'm interested in. Please if you can read my comment please do consider. Thanks
@EnglishwithLiz
@EnglishwithLiz 2 года назад
Hi DarthVader. I am uploading a video on /t/ and /d/ tomorrow 17.3.22 at 10 o'clock. I hope it covers what you are asking for.
@darthvader3910
@darthvader3910 2 года назад
@@EnglishwithLiz I hope it details exactly the differences between the plosives at the start of the word and plosives at the end. Because there is a difference, and brits as opposed to Americans always release the plosive at the end.
@EnglishwithLiz
@EnglishwithLiz 2 года назад
Let me know how you get on. By the way I have just recorded a video on consecutive plosives that should be out in the next couple of weeks ❤️ & 🕊
@darthvader3910
@darthvader3910 2 года назад
Hi i watched the new one. But you only spent a few seconds on the plosives at the end. Can you dive deeper into this a bit more. Because info on plosives at the end of words, just how brits pronounce them at the end of words are scarce, if non existent online. I would just like a bit more info on how you would enunciate the plosives at the end because they are different from the plosives at the start. Thanks
