How to Propagate Raspberries the Easy Way [Turning $15 into $75 in 7 Minutes] 

I started my Raspberry patch 8 yrs ago from five starts that I moved from my two other places! I've sold $300-$500 of starts every spring for the last 5yrs and will be doing the same next couple weeks! Mine are all in ground! I just dig up and have folks bring their own pots, buckets or whatever! Going to do it with my huge Goji Berry bush also! Totally enjoy your videos and character! GOD is GOOD ALWAYS!🙌

One summer years ago Red Raspberries crawled out from underneath my neighbors fence, and came over to see me. I encouraged them to stay, transplanted their new growth, and have my own 25 foot Raspberry hedge 100% for free 😁.

I love my raspberry plants. Started with two plants last year, and now they're popping up everywhere, there must be 20 plants now.

Both of those books are very helpful. I've already got customers asking that I do vegetable starts for their fall gardens, and I'm delivering fig trees (divisions) to 5 customers on Thursday. All from word of mouth; I haven't even touched social media yet. Thanks for the push, David. I'm having a blast doing this. My friend gave me a couple of raspberry starch two years ago now I have been growing all along My fence line. She moved away and when she came to visit I gave her some back so she could plan and her new home. So great!

When I was a kid, one of my friend's grandma's entire backyard had been completely taken over by raspberries. You gotta watch those bad boys 🤣

Raspberries in the Deep South? I grew up on Bavaria and always thought they needed cold stratification which Savannah Ga does not have lol...after 55 years how amazing to know I can grow my very favorite fruit! thank you for sharing this awesome news...will have to find some soon! Awesome how many shoots they throw, I've never seen them underground that clearly! In case anyone is looking to get even more plants from the raspberries they already have - if you're really planning to butcher a plant and make a hedge - the stems will root wherever they touch damp ground too so if you want to propagate more you can bend down and lightly bury some of last year's mature live brambles in the middle or at the tip and split them off once they've rooted, it doesn't take long. This also makes them a really painful tripping hazard, which I guess is an added benefit lol.

Ah, just like good old wild blackberries. They just spread and spread and spread....I pulled a root that was like 12 feet long and had a ton of shoots on it. Crazy!

I wish I could send you some of my Grampy Kelleher raspberries. They are treasured family heirlooms with awesome Karma in every single one. My Grandfather planted some raspberries in the 1940's and then my Dad planted some, and I from my Dad. They are so good, vintage as can be and though I never knew my grandfather I still eat and make raspberry jam like my grandmother did and dedicate the first one to him every year and invite his spirit to enjoy the flavor once again through me. I love the ties to the past and familial bonds gardening can form and foster. Want some raspberry jam though, Grammy Kelleher raspberry jam?

I literally just arrived from the store. I've pick 3 differents plants; black Satin Blackberry, Kiwi Gold Raspberry and Nova Raspberry. Only one pot of each. (about 20$/pot). My moms giving me A raspberry she started on her balcony, she says is 6 ft tall. Sounds like I just learned what to do inside that pot when I see it. I am putting it (them 😉😉) in a raised bed. Compost and Biochar with pine needle mulch to acidify it a little bit. Fish hydrolysate for some root health and some Love should make some nice berries. I really appreciate your relaxed approach to doing something Id never think of doing. It looks a bit brutal to the plant, but I know its rhysomatic, and my bluegrass spreads very fast if I rip out some dandelion leaves...dont have to pull the root, the grass is so ready to spread from the fish juice. Looking even more forward to getn those raspberries now Daver! Woohoo.

Hey David The Good I did find me a raspberry bush and a blackberry bush I'm going to plant them in a pot they're not going to do anything this year so I'll plant them in the ground next year got to get the root system going I know I'll have to baby it it's worth a try 👍

Nice video. We didn't know this 2 years ago when we planted a small raspberry plant. Now, we have about 20 raspberry plants that are 7ft tall. We decided to dig up several of the roots and replant in other areas of the yard. Here's some of the ideas that I know work and have done for years: 1. Recycling green onions, just cut about 1/2 inch above the roots and plant the roots. We start by buying some from the produce section of the store and use those. They will continue to grow (I've had some for 7 years until we sold the house and my neighbor asked for them. 2. Recycle potatoes. Just set a couple potatoes aside and let the alone. They'll grow sprouts that we can plant. 3. Recycle bell peppers. We just plant the seeds. There are usually about 80 seeds per pepper. 4. Recycle lettuce. just set the hard part (the core) in water and it will continue to grow. They'll only grow for about 4 generations. But, it gives us more for our money. 5. Recycle Garlic. Just set each section of clove in water and it will grow roots. Then plant it. One garlic turns into ten quite easily and they are hard to kill. We uprooted some and tossed them onto concrete. It grew any way. We just noticed some growing that we hadn't planted. 6. Recycle carrots. Just cut the carrot about one inch below the green leafy part and replant it. The orange part is the root. I could keep going on this because there is so much potential for gardening produce. Take care and thanks again for the video.

AWESOME, missed this IRIE Goodstream....again, but I'm here watching the replay,......love my raspberries, I remember in a past Goodstream you told me Mysores would be good for my area, which is classified as subtropical yet the high altitude also influences our weather. I used to think Blackberries and raspberries were totally LEMON SOUR in flavor, but about a month ago I bought a 100 gram plastic cup for 15 pesos (.80 cents am)and not sour at all! Kinda like a sweet but with a little zing of tartness,.....so why pay the market price if we can grow our own raspberries the David The Good Method?!! ;)

I'm curious to ask if you don't separate the shoots... would they cut the ability of the main plant to produce berries? Or how would the results compare on berry hields comparing if the shoots are separated or not over time? Thanks.

Raspberries are one of those plants. If you want it to stay put, you'll have to put it in a planter.

Ever tried propagating those by clumping the pups into soil balls? Seems like the roots would air prune and more pups would shoot out in all directions - I'll give it a whirl.

I have blackberries out the wazoo. I thought the birds gifted me a black raspberry but apparently I was mistaken. DTG also ID'd wineberries the birds planted for me.

Great idea. Do blackberries grow the same way? They get out of control too. I have thornless blackberries and I'm thinking of getting more. Do they grow from cuttings? I imagine I could grow a bunch from the ones I have after they finish fruiting. In western NC they're flowering now.

I bought 2 raspberry plants last year, and they are huge this year, but they never produced! They are a Texas raspberry called Dorman red that are trailing. They are in a very tall, raised bed. And hang to the ground and have even rooted into the soil. What have I done wrong? And should I just cut all those new canes down to the ground bc they didn't produce or will those canes produce next year?

Hi.. I recenetly brought fall gold raspberries from ireland and brought to India. I have transfered it in to a small pot but it looks its leaves are started shrinking from its tip. Does anyone knows the reason. Please help me to save this plant.

I bought this Heritage variety 2 months ago at Lowes. I wonder if this variety has thorns? Mine has but they say thornless has soft thorns at a foot high than becomes smooth stems. Mine is 2 feet high and is giving a few raspberries already.

I purchased live raspberry plants from Baker Creek in Spring of 2020 and they will not flower or fruit. The leaves look great. Do these take time like fruit trees?? Am I doing something wrong? They are in mostly fox farm ocean forest potting soil, worm castings from my worm bin and bat guano outdoors in air pots (to keep them from taking over our small yard).
