Unbelievable that somebody copyrights the plant. I'm propagating everything and who cares about the copyright.. It's nature and God made it for everyone to use, not just the copyright holder.. Omg the greedy people out there think they can copyright nature..come on! Love your videos btw..
If a farmer patients a seed an my seeds blew over to your land an I can prove the seeds are mine, I have the right to use your land for my benefits an take the harvests. USA FOR YOU!
i totally did this on accident when one of my leaves fell off in the pot and i didnt take it out! lol im new to succulents so i didnt even know u could do this!
If you make sure you pull the leaf off properly its practically guaranteed to propagate, I've had a 100% success rate with succulent propagation, I've never had one not root
Hi, I am Anila from India... I love watching you design the arrangements... I got really inspired by you and usually Succulents are not very common in India... They just started coming up but very costly... The propagation video is a life saver... thank you a lot... God bless you :-)
I've watched video after video from many channels and yours is the only 1 that showed me how/ when to actually plant the individual propagated sucs. thabks!
I used this video and have successfully propagated a plant that needed very much. Now the top of it has grown roots and is healthier than ever and about 70% of my leafs have rooted and I have lots of baby succulents! The most important thing is that you are patient. It takes lots of time, but the results are worth it
Jeez that warning on patents makes me wanna find that variety where the leaf has fallen off and propagate the heck out if it 1000 times!! dang greaseballs!!
preferredduck1 haha, how do you REALLY feel? Just remember that whatever you do for a living might be reproduced by an amateur, too, and sold. There's another perspective!
Is it possible to have a video on Baby Toes succulents? Your videos have been very informative for me and i just love watching your lovely creations. Thanks for sharing your ideas and experiences.
Very helpful video! I liked that she showed two leaves side by side where one is the acceptable to be propagated whilst the other is brown at the leaf bottom and won't propagate roots.
hi garden answer! i love to propagate succulents, you can propagate by leaf, division, stem, and another way is to take a bare stem(no leafs on it) and let it dry and lay it on some cactus and succulent soil! have fun propagating!
@Garden Answer, thank you, your videos are so helpful. I must say, the people in your life are fortunate, you are very likeable and have a genuine kind nature. (Your plants are lucky too!)
Thank for sharing ,I'm new I have a succulent plant that was given to me ,it have grown I noticed during the spring they grow faster than winter , well I noticed they stood tall summer, then I moved them in side then a few months later the stem start curving and leaves start to really stretch apart , however they still looked pretty I was reading online that they was searching for sun light . While I was viewing your video . I got some helpful tips about how to propagate . And cut off the stem while leaving it still attached to the soil , well I didn't wait few days later after cutting off the top , I immediately put it in the soil , wish I would've came back to view your video again at that time . It's been about a month now since I did this, so I'm kind afraid to bother it , well so far that part looks healthy.. One freezing night I forgot they was outside next morning the leaves looked slump n very wet looking ( like they was thawing out lol)Do u think that they will come back to life ? ( healthy)Sorry for long story , but thanks again for your video, like I said earlier, I'm a new beginner ,
This is the BEST propagation video I have seen. None of the videos I watched previously addressed what you are supposed to do after they root, or if you can remove the original leaf. Thank you!
Your video was SO much help, I've been searching for videos on cutting the top off and keeping the stem to see if it was possible. Thanks a bunch, you're awesome!
Thank you for share this video. Is the most complete and well explained in all RU-vid. I'm trying to propagate my succulents... I'm making it your way. Wish me luck. I start today.
I finally tried this with my succulents and they are finally rooting!!! Thank you so much for this video! I love succulents and I’m falling in love with your videos, and getting better and better at succulent care! I planted some in a strawberry pot and it turned out beautifully. I’m so glad I found your channel, I’ve been watching on Facebook for about a year. THANK YOU!!!!!!
I bought a Jet Bead succulent a few hours ago, and conveniently there was a propogating succulent right underneath the larger plant. Transferred it to its own pot, and I'm going to see how far it gets.
Thanks for this video so much! I was as asking my self how I can grow more Succulents in a easy way! I really love your videos! ^^ greetings from Puerto Rico
Cry. I just knocked over my succulent plant and the top broke off along with some of the leaves so I'm going to try to propagate them and make little babies. I'm the worst at plant care so we'll just see what happens. ;u; Thanks for the video!
It worked out actually! I was surprised that I pulled it off, haha. I don't know what's going on with the top part that broke off, but it's still alive after all this time and the leaves grew roots and sprouted a small baby plant.
ahhh this literally just happened to me!! my succulent finally grew a lot so I wanted to replant it.. and I dropped it... and it fell apart. I'll try to save the pieces now 😅
Laura, thanks for another great video. Based on the comments, I think you should do a video on Plant Patents and what they actually are. Names have copyright, plants have patents.
Great video! Very clear and helpful! I ordered a bunch of plants and some of the succulents i think were overwatered. Going to try to propagate them while the leves and top are still good rather than let them rot!
i bought a succulent and planted it pretty tightly so it wouldn't fall out. i water it so it seems healthy and all. however the roots don't grow out into the soil. it's just one lump of roots disconnected from the rest of the dirt.
I use to make my own hybrid hot peppers by cross pollination and grow them over and over to force them to take characteristics that I wanted them to have until I ended up with a F1 hybrid that means pure and will not revert back to what it was and I sold my plants but once you bought my stuff it was yours to do whatever you wanted with it
Thank you for sharing. Exactly the piece of info I'm looking for. Have quite a few leaves drop off from the plant and trying to figure out how to propagate them :)
Hi Laura, I love your videos and I find them very inspirational. I was never into gardening until I started watching your videos, they are perfect for beginners and they are straightforward and easy to enjoy. I have a few questions for you that I would love to get some help with and at the bottom of this there's a list of videos that I would love to see in the future since you always appreciate suggestions. Questions When propagating succulents, after they have started growing little leaves, how do you plant them in their container? I find it hard to plant them without breaking them. When would be the right time to plant them in their own containers? And how often should I water them since they are so small? Also some grow leaves and some grow roots only, when should I give up? One more question, would you by any chance be able to give tips on growing citrus plants indoors? I would love to see a video about that. Video suggestions * Easy to grow indoor flowers * Plants that do well in extreme weather that is extremely cold and extremely hot or plants that can do well in a patio all year round * Plants that do well in low light * Plants that are good for fairy gardens and their care * Caring for baby tears and string of pearls Also, I love love the unboxing videos, they are awesome!
How should I propagate leaflets growing on a cut off succulent leaf? I bought a rosette succulent from a nursery. Luckily, I found small cuttings of a cactus and two other succulents growing in the soil. I've planted them all separately in their own pots now. Unfortunately one of them was infested by mealy bugs. I cleared them out but the small plant lost most of its leaves. I almost thought I'd lost it but that feisty plant has bounced back! And the most miraculous thing was that one of its chewed off leaves which was lying atop the soil is now growing leaflets! But I'm totally at a loss as to how to propagate that leaf/leaflet. I tried looking up but I'm not able to identify what type of succulent it is and how I can plant the leaflet. It looks like a jade plant but it doesn't have that red edge. The leaf actually has a serrated edge, which is where those leaflets are now growing. Any help or advice would be welcome. Thanks.
I love your videos about succulents :) Have some of them myself and planing getting new ones on spring. I live in Lithuania, where the climate is more scandinavian, we have winters with temperature to -30 C and summers with heat to 30 C, so I would like to know what would you suggest to do to avoid my succulents from growing tall in winter season?
Great Channel! I hope to start making succulent terrariums soon and I was just wondering, don't the succulents grow out of small spaces? Your Q&A video was a huge help!
This explains sooooo much! I had these wonky fellas and had no idea what to do. They grew so big that they died on me. My mom accidentally let hers die, but funny thing: it made babies without anyone noticing. After seeing this vid I knew what I saw when I peeked into a sad little pot and kidnapped a few. Let's see if they like me! ;)
I wish! It took quite of a learning curve to not drown my plants. I finally figured out that I need to neglect them hard and drown them every now and then for them to thrive, lol. Big difference with my thirsty plants. I managed to take care of a thriving aloe for the past half year, so I think it's safe to start with succulents again. Thanks for this reminder :)
Hi, Laura! I'm a big fan... Thanks for all the great info! I have 2 questions regarding propagating succulents 1) Does it actually help to use a rooting hormone? 2) Does it help to cover the tray of leaves (to create more humidity)? Thanks for your assistance!!
+Natasha Lee Hello! :) I don't think rooting hormone makes much a difference (or it hasn't for me anyway)! I woudn't cover the tray because succs like it on the dry side and too much humidity may rot them. :)
Garden Answer Hi Laura! Thank you for the tips and helpful information. I have a succulent leaf that propagated a baby without roots. The leaf is starting to dry up. What should I do? This is the first time propagating has worked for me so i really don't want it to die. Thank you!
@Garden answer Hi Laura! I'm new to your channel and have been hooked to it. Well I live in India n love gardening and after looking at your videos i felt more dedicated and realised there is so much I need to learn but I do have few concerns as in a lot of your videos you use stuff like special potting mix and other stuff which may be easily accessible in the US but I doubt I would beavle to get them in my local nursery. So could you do a video where you tell howto make your own potting mix. Thanks would appreciate it!
I realize this video is over a year old but I really like you and your videos and right now I'm preparing a bunch of cuttings and leaves from a graptopetalum and I have a question. When the leaves are calloused will that callous be brown-looking? I just want to know what to look for so they don't rot. They were a gift (my dad saved them from a neighbor who was throwing them out) and came in two big strawberry pots. The other one was huge and looked like snakes with the rosette at the ends. I trimmed the hollow tubes off and kept her wild looking. Call her Medusa :)
