Hi zz plant you can propagate in both water and soil ,in water it takes longer for zz to grow roots as well as rhizomes , so i prefer soil over water .

Hey sometimes it happens don't worry but if it has grown roots than leave it in the soil don't remove it might form rhizome .

@@theplantstationn2196 after potting them from water to soil how many times should we water them pls help bcoz my leaves had good bulbs developed in water but after planting them in soil it turned out yellow and no growth.

I water them when the soil is 80 % dry.

Zz plants require good drainage soil for that you can take 60 % garden soil , 20% perlite or sand ,10% cocopeat and 10% vermicopost this is the mixture i use and it works well, and watering plays very important part only water when soil is almost dry.
