After pulling your onions, be sure to let them cure and dry a few days in the sun before putting them in shaded storage.

To Properly cure onions they need air to circulate all around the bulb (underside too). Put onions on a chicken wire fence on top of saw horses. Air needs to completely surround the onion.

This is your opinion. Everyone grows up in different regions and we deal with our produce the way that works for our climate and farm size. Ps….. you probably know a lot that you have read but I would assume your hands probably haven’t been that dirty.

Agreed. Also if your area is native to onion flies or thrips it's best to do this indoors, with proper air circulation it will take about a week but it's worth the integrity of the onions

Moisture collects on the ground, the direct sunlight will cause the bulbs to start turning green which is not good for long term storage and those green tops are edible but are going to wilt in the sun.

Even if they catch some of them, we still gonna eat them because we waited 6 months for these babies to come out. But, if it is safe to do it, you can do that. I keep my peanuts next to my outside sink and no birds or critters attack them and I can keep them up to 4 months at home once they have been frying for 3 weeks. I live in a very humid and hot area.

Another way to keep your onions is to leave them in the ground until you use them. I just pulled the last thirty or so onions that i had planted early last November. It is now the first week of September and those onions are perfectly preserved. That last batch is currently drying on the concrete floor of my front porch. I got those onions from Hoss Tool last fall, they are the perfect short day onions for us here in north east Florida. Great onions, red, white and yellow. I prefer the yellow, my wife loves the red the most, but we both enjoy all of them.
