I always forget it and I smile during my dives (because I love to dive), so I always have to clean my mask from water😅

Another item of note for those of us with moustaches (credit to Freddy at Leviathan Scuba for this) is simply the concept of positive pressure. Without even doing the full "hold the top of the mask, breathe out through the nose" to clear water from a mask you can also just exhale just a little bit from the nose to keep the air pressure in the mask up. This both helps prevent mask squeeze but also uses the simple pressure of the air in your mask to just stop the water from pressing in, especially at the bottom of the mask (although for me there is always a little bit of water at the bottom, but that's not a big deal and you can get used to it quite quickly, and it really is only a very little bit). I've noticed on occasion that I unconsciously do this on occasion, even, when I happen to feel a few bubbles escape from the skirt around temple area of my mask on an exhale but no water is getting into the mask. Of course warm. moist, air through the nose can cause your mask to fog so definitely make sure it's been treated and has anti-fog in it, but otherwise that's always worked great for me!

I’m laugh often underwater, for now I just clear but if a mask advertisement for one of these well-engineered skirts mentioned they solved this, I would buy!

I have a stupid question when I have the snorkel in my mouth and do the suck test with my nose should I be able to breathe with my mouth during the suck? Because when I do the test the mask fells

Yeah, you'll be able to breathe through your mouth but, you should be able to hold your breath long enough for the sniff test. Sniffing in through your nose should create enough suction to hold the mask to your face for a few seconds and that's all you really need. If you can draw gas through your nose then your mask is leaking.

@@ScubaDiverMagazineokay thank you very much when I sniff with my nose the mask fits perfectly without any leak and it holds even when I push it a little but as soon as i open my mouth the masks falls

It comes with time as you relax. It can also come from too much lead on your weightbelt. If you take too much lead then you adjust your BCD more frequently and use more gas. If you do a proper weight check that may help reduce your air consumption. Otherwise it's down to streamlining your equipment and good trim to reduce your effort in the water and good breathing to eliminate hypercapnia.

#askmark Hi mark thanks for the videos. looking at buying a new set of regs. The Apeks xtx50 has been around for a while. is this still a good purchase or are some of the modern ones getting better. Thanks

They're a great all-rounder and popular designs tend to maintain demand for replacement parts in the future beyond the _required_ timeframe. As long as you can get them serviced near you then they're a good choice of regulator. You could describe some regulators out there as 'better' in some ways but, I don't see any reason not to invest in some XTX50s, you still see divers with the previous generation using them and the ATX are still in demand.

Great advice, especially bringing a snorkel to help fit your mask. Never thought of that!
