How to Properly Clean a Face Mask 

I have to live in a house full of tobacco smoke & just got this mask to not cough all the time, thank you for showing how to effectively clean the mask.

You can buy respirator towelettes, they work really good at getting the dirtiest dirt off. They smells nice too.

I also only use the quicklatch 6503 half face masks from 3m.

Hehe jynx, i just replaced my mask yesterday with the same mask, the 3m 7500. Think the filters were the p3s as i need a little bit of charcoal in then for some solvent vapours and acrylic. Its a drop down mask too but with a slightly different mechanism for dropping down, very handy. I previuosly used the diwposeable versions from 3m, but they are heavier compared to these. Very good video kyle. 2 things to note tho on cleaning. Id be very wary of using any chemicals on the rubber seals. They tend to breakdown to easly. Plain water would be better. Also its worth getting extra seals when you buy the mask as whenever the seal starts to distort it should be replaced as it becomes useless. Also when storing the mask to avoid buildup of moisture in it overnight i wad up a bit of paper towel and leave it inside to absorb all the moisture. Then replace it each time. Will prolong the life of the mask and stop it smelling.

Put your hands over the filters and breath in to tell if you have it adjusted properly. If it sucks to your face it's properly adjusted. I have to have a fit test once a year.

I quick clean mine every morning and a good cleaning once a week when I'm welding or grinding full time.

That fillet knife is amazing idk if it is the one that I have order but that is a deadly knife my friend very very good work

As a industrial spraypainter we clean our mask with warm soapy water and it must be a mold detergent as after time the mask can break down and start to split ect just a tip for anyone who wants longevity from there masks here in New Zealand those 3m mask are 100 dollars so its worth cleaning for health and money

THANK YOU! Very useful! I wear a very similar 3M mask when I go out for virus protection, and it is VERY comfortable. People used to laugh at me, but now I can see that they are ENVIOUS. I ordered N95 medical masks back in early March, and I am still waiting! Finding medical quality N95 masks is nearly impossible here in the US. BUT, finding INDUSTRIAL N95 masks like this one is usually easy from industrial supply catalogs, with quick shipment. I too favor the 3M brand of mask and filters---which last a long time for just street wear................................elsullo

I take my mask apart and stick it in the dishwasher.
