Look at your tape measure. 9ft is 108 inches. So you got a 108-inch total rise. Your riser height and tread depth need to add up to between 17 and 18 inches .7 inches is a comfortable riser height. However, I'm trying to avoid using fractions ( many people have problems with fractions). So if we use 6 3/4 inches, which is 6.75 decimal inches. 108 ÷ 6.75 or 6 3/4 inches =16 STEPS. 6.75 riser height + 11 inch tread depth equals 17.75 , so we are within the guidelines.
