You did a good job, your apprehensiveness is what will help you do a good job, think it all out make a plan and dont be to proud to revise the plan.

nice job we have the opposite problem and water moves toward the shed. I have had to create drainage away from the shed and geotextile to keep the gravel from just sinking into the clay.

The clay and material that comes from the ground when digging a pond here in Florida is great when it hardens but, like you said when wet its some slick stuff, I covered my will shell rock then millins. It makes a great base. and around the house and shed after I leveled out the clay I come back with some #1 fill to have something better for grass and plants to grow in. On you box blade, have you tried putting the rippers down a few inches, that should help break up that clay. Mini ex looks fun though!

I have a backhoe for my tractor that would likely work almost as well your mini-X. But for those that can’t afford some of these more expensive options, do you think a shallow tilling would have worked? My thought is it would loosen the surface and make the removal of the overburden quick and easy, but I’m not sure it would be as precise on depth control. Nicely done and it pays to think through a project like you did (you called it apprehension) so that you mitigate any potential issues. It’s the end result that really matters.

That was some good work with the mini there. I don’t think I’m quite ready to get that close to the concrete with it. 😂
