Figured I'd create a video tutorial on how to PROPERLY, and correctly safety wire a motorcycle in my opinion. I also figured it's better than learning from some noob off Tik Tok that has zero experience safety wiring. Hope it helps, enjoy!

With All due respect, but my aviation inspector experiences would cut that job and say do it aging correctly. I know it’s not a plane, but please hear me out. The direction you placed the wire in the second bolt head will come loose from vibration. You should have pulled it over the caliper and down the bolt. Keep your wire in the most linear path as possible. If anything has a sliping point over a joint it’s going to slip over from vibration. The wire is always going to keep tension in one axis but not the perpendicular axis. (If that makes sense). Almost there tho. Once you see it youll understand what I mean. Good luck be safe.

you could very much benefit from a better mic, it's very difficult to understand what you say with all that reverb

I totally agree, that's something that is on my wishlist. Thanks for the feedback.

haha it can have multiple purposes, I think it originated from being used on aircraft.

Man you gotta watch a video on how to properly mic yourself to get good audio cause half of the things you say are almost completely drowned out in reverberation. Which sucks because what you have to say is very important! But either way, I still got the knowledge so thank you for taking the time to make this, gonna make my safety wire look professional ;)

You could have used two pliers to pull the wire through, establish the length, and then on each end with the pliers, lock them with a pull and a twist to eliminate that gap at the end to create tension for the twist. I’d personally use a thinner gauge lock wire. But, during race weekends, and when it’s 100F, safety wiring after swapping wheels is the last thing I’d wanna do lol. I use safety clips with a twisted tether joining them together in between on both brake caliper and pinch bolts. Same for my rear axle. Or you can use FastFranks quick change for the front. Swap front wheels without touching the calipers, just the axle. Great video!

When twisting the wires at the second bolt, it should be done in a counter clockwise direction, to ensure the wire won't slip over the head of the bolt. If using one way safety wire pliers, you'll have to twist manually. Thanks for the video. 👍

It looks good. I personally use removable clips and crimped wire for the calipers and pre twisted stainless steel wire for clip-ons, master and everything else. At the track it's too time consuming.....you are right about motorcycle "gurus" though.

Most race orgs specifically outline that you CANNOT use removable clips for safety wire

@@nathanielrowe3442 most? Where? ....pre twisted stainless steel meets all safety requirements, and is one time use.

de-burring the drilled holes in the bolts is also very important.

Good video on how to safety wire the brakes. You need some transition lenses for how bright that shop is.
