How good to seal the camera.
Here is a punctured camera. She misses. At first I find a hole in her through which she goes down.
For this - I pump up the camera. I put it in the water and find the puncture site. Puncture is easy. It can be seen in the bubbles that appear in the place where the camera was pierced.
I mark this place with a ballpoint pen.
Before you begin to seal the hole in the chamber, you must first completely lower it.
Also, to lower the camera faster, you can simply completely unscrew the nipple.
To seal the camera quickly, you can use these Chinese latki here. A set of these latok comes with glue. But since I will show how to seal the camera at a very high quality, I will not use these patches, but will make my own rubber patches from a piece of the old unwanted camera. My patch will be from the same material as the camera that I will glue. Accordingly, they stick together among themselves much better than materials of different types.
So, from the old camera, I cut off a small piece. From this piece I cut out the future oval-shaped patchwork. I use for this ordinary scissors.
This is my latka.
Now, with this patch it is necessary to carry out some manipulations in order to prepare it for gluing.
The fact is that this patch has thick edges. It is necessary for it to give such a form that it would disappear from the center to the edges. Then, in the course of further operation, such a patch will stretch well along the edges.
The side of the patch, which will stick, must be well cleaned with emery paper.
During the stripping, I will reduce the edges accordingly. For this, I will use here such an engraver with a nozzle with sandpaper. Of course, all this can be done manually, only then it will take more time.
Here, Latka is ready. It is cleared of a protective layer and its edges are thinned. Now it will stretch well around the edges when the camera inflates.
I turn to the preparation of the camera. I find on the camera marked puncture site. I put the prepared patch on it and lead it around the perimeter with a ballpoint pen. I do this in order to know how much it will be necessary to strip on the camera itself.
For stripping using a piece of sandpaper. With its help, I carefully clean the marked area under the patch. If in place of the patch there was a bulging seam of the casting chamber, then it must be completely cleaned, so that the plane under the patch was even and without any protruding parts.
This is how I cleared the camera under the patch. Made a rough surface and completely removed the joint, resulting in the manufacture of the camera.
In the next step, the gluing points must be degreased. For this purpose, I use alcohol. Solvents and acetone can also be used instead of alcohol. Well suited and nail polish remover.
I wet a piece of unwanted cloth in alcohol and thoroughly wipe the place of gluing the patch on the camera, and, respectively, the patch itself. I wait a couple of minutes when it all dries.
Now it’s time to grease the surfaces to be bonded with glue. I will use glue 88.
According to the instructions, you need to apply a thin layer of glue on the surfaces to be glued, hold for 5-10 minutes, and then apply to each other and strongly compress the surfaces to be glued. The quality of bonding depends on the force of compression, and not on its duration.
If you use another glue for gluing, then you need to glue according to the instructions to that glue. The instruction is written on the tube from the back side.
I put a thin layer of glue on the patch. I squeeze a drop and smear the glue with my finger over the entire surface of the patch. It is better to use a brush of course. I put it aside to dry.
In the same way, I apply glue to the place of gluing the patch on the camera and also postpone it to dry out.
I notice the time. For simplicity, I set the alarm on the phone, which will ring after 6 minutes.
It took 6 minutes - you can glue. I apply the patch gently on the camera and begin to smooth it from the center to the edges. Now you need to press it hard. To do this, I lay the camera on a solid flat surface, step on the patch itself with my heel and press it with my whole body weight for about a minute.
If there is a vice, it is better to put a camera with a patch between two flat boards and clamp them with a vice.
The patch on the camera pasted in this way will hold on very tightly and calmly until the camera is thrown out.
