As a first time dog owner, it has been a real learning experience. I have done so many things wrong and am now having to work harder to correct the resulting unwanted behaviors. So glad you are making these videos. Wish I had seen them from the start of my dog journey. On the bright side, I will be better educated for future dogs! Thank you for the videos.
Agree 💯! I have a patch “ASK TO PET” & I always say ‘No, but thanks for asking! He’s training! “ and yes, I’m his most valuable asset- sorry but he doesn’t care about you or your dog! Awesome content- thank you for your inspiration 🙌🏻
what food do you recommend for puppies 10+weeks old to adult dogs. I heard alot of FDA issues with cheap dog food causing cancers and other issues. Perhaps you can make a video about this subject and if the more expensive dog food is worth it for development
I hope I never end up like some of the dog owners that are so unaware of their dogs and let them loose thinking nothing will happen. So many aggressive dogs at PetSmart or Petco and the parents just let the dogs on their leash go too far.
I’m told over and over the malinois isn’t a good dog for a service animal. I’m a behavior analyst and have worked on a lot miter basis for other challenging dogs and have owned a rescue with now skill sets to a good level of responding to verbal and gestural prompts using both positive/negative reinforcement and positive/ negative punishment. What are your thoughts with respect to service dog work? (Sleep disruption/anxiety) I’m an active retired and older adult.
Great video Andy! Olga here from Italy. My 12months’ old Swiss Shephard Eagle just got his BH certificate! Thanks also to your videos..I am getting more and more the most important thing for him. Now starting preparation for IGP Best Olga

101% true at all what he said. We as dog trainers always try to teach the dog owner how properly train their dogs because at the end of the day, the owner will be the trainer of their own dogs the rest of their lives. You are right on everything you taught us. I’m your new follower.
So we broke our dog by doing it wrong the first year of her life. Now that the humans have had proper training, and she 5 weeks with a professional, we train 3 to 5x every day, we follow your guidance (only 3 dog friend playdates, all other city dogs that we pass are furniture), but after almost a year she's still reactive (and strong af) to 1 in 10 dogs. Is it a matter of patience & persistence and eventually she will stop trying to suppress any dog who looks at her funny? And thank you so much for all your live sessions and training videos Andy, we greatly appreciate them.
Hi Andy I’m Paul from Birmingham UK our Malinois is 17 weeks now we’ve had him for 7 weeks (previous owner had him for one week at 8 weeks old and decided they didn’t want him 🙄). At the moment he is progressing well. He’s still very mouthy at times he doesn’t always do it but generally reverts back to it after a while. Any thoughts and tips on how to stop this it would be good if I can stop this behaviour thanks
Regarding wolfdogs/hybrids. The higher the content (wolf dna) the harder it is to train. Those keeping wolfdogs may say you cannot own a wolfdog like you can own a dog because a mature dog is a wolf with 'arrested development'. High content wolfdogs cannot live indoors and cannot be trained really. They see no value in stupid workouts. Low content wolfdogs take more time and effort to train with less results to show for.
Loved this video. How many times I’ve heard people say they take their dog or puppy to the dog park to “socialize “. I want to scream. But that scream comes to land on deaf ears. It is so refreshing to listen to someone who says it like it is. People are so quick to blame their dogs issues on “ he didn’t have a good past, he is a bad dog to start with, blah blah. What I like to hear, is, I’m at fault. I didn’t know what to do and winged it by watching the wrong person. Thank you Andy for speaking the words of wisdom, personal experience and knowledge.
What not to do. Gotcha. But question. Every morning at the start of my walk, my now 5 month old Olde Bulldog meets up with 3 of his friends in a field. They run and play for 20 or so minutes and then we continue with our walks separate from the other dogs. Is this hurting my puppy?
@@AndyKrueger because of the huge american flag in your photo and your amazing videos. I’ll limit his socialization during walks. LOL. Thanks for the reply!
Hey Andy looking at patreon and just wanted to ask , I have 4 dogs Dad husky breed rescued from pound , Mom Anatolian Shepard and two of the pups from litter of 7- family dogs so no high end competition training just like to have a solid obedience foundation and have command of all at any one given time especially out of home - they do pretty well with basics - can your level one help me train all four being together and having control on all at once and will it go in detail of the 4 ways you mentioned you train today of positive and negative reinforcement areas I need further understanding on and learn?
