Short demo on how to seal and protect rods with cord handles.
One of the best cork seals is called 'U-40 Cork Seal' ebay.us/tdiOy9

That looks great! I often use simple olive oil to treat the cork. Gives a nice "ancient" touch and is cheap. It doesn't stink even after longer time ;-) Greetings

Sounds great! I knew that coco oil has plenty of good properties but never tried it on the rod.

@@AndrewsKnots Yes. I think that Cork Seal is just a combination of some natural oils. They don't write the ingridients on it because everyone would be able to prepare it themselves)))

Interesting. I’ve just finished my first rod build and used waterproof wood glue to seal the handle. It does give a shine as you said, but it seems to work nicely. Is that the Korum surface/floater rod you’ve just opened?

so many of my mates say that is not good using U-40, after coating the handle, the cork still easy dirty after use for fishing, they advice me to use kingdom cork protection, they say the stuff more better, what do you think?

I think putting sealant over cork handles ruins them, I prefer cork to darken naturally. If cork gets wet, leave the rods out to dry. And now and again you can give the cork a clean with a damp cloth if it needs it and the cork should be fine.

Yes, cork is hard-wearing stuff on it's own. And sealing/protecting it extends it's life even further.

I’m the same way I don’t use anything and I like how the cork darkens over time. Don’t get me wrong though nothing like that new look
