Wow, thanks. Im in Northern California and I spend at least 45mins a day moving my succulents in and out of shade. A new collector I've lost several to sunburn but have learned which ones like direct sun and do well in this area. Any suggestions ? Thanks, Kerry😊🌿💖

Oh no, sorry to hear you lost some. It can be difficult when it's so hot, even for succulents 🥵 My suggestion would be to get a shadecloth 30-50% should keep all of your succulents safe from sunburn. It bounces the harmful UV rays off but lets in enough light to keep them compact and happy + will save you time in the long run as you won't have to move them in and out of shade🙂💚

Good information as always. How do u keep the succulents looking pristine.

Thank you 🥰 The shadecloth helps in preventing stuff like leaves or debris falling in and causing discolouration and then, i find, good potting mix, keeping mealies and aphids at bay and appropriate light exposure take care of the rest.. I also don't let most of them get too stressed from lack of water and give them a drink often when hot to prevent yellowing leaves. I have them in all day sun, but do pull the shadecloth over for nearly half a year as the sun can easily burn succulents in smaller pots and the UV is stronger here in Australia than rest of the world 😅

Yep, extremely hot and humid here in Virginia USA. I was born and grew up in Sydney. We would get sent home from school when it hit 100 degrees F. No air conditioning at school or at home. Anyhoo, at 1.17 there is a furry little green suc. Can u give me the name of that one pls? Where are u from originally. Sounds European, Baltic area?

Ohhh, hot and humid sucks. Seems like we're headed in the same direction. Not looking forward to this summer 😅 That fury cutie is Echeveria Doris Taylor. When i bring it to the markets people stroke it like a little kitten 😂 Yup, cannot get rid of that silly accent even after 20 yrs 🤣 Take care, hopefully the US heatwaves will bugger off soon 🤞

👋 hi I’m new to succulents, live in Houston Tx and was told not to water them now that it’s hot because it will cause root rot ? Is this true or can I give them some water .

I'm going to make a video reply to this very good question!😀 The answer is a bit complicated and it really depends which succulents we talk about and where you have them. There's some that will rot just by looking at them..😅 But in a nutshell (and this is my personal experience) i water most of my plants well when we get the weather you now have. Last time we had a heatwave of over 40C/104F for a consecutive week i watered pretty much every day (morning or evening) as they dried out to the bone. HOWEVER, some succulents (for me it's usually new Echeveria hybrids) can turn into mush regardless of watering when this hot.. I'd advise to keep them in a shaded but bright spot for the duration of the heatwave and if you see them too dry where leaves are shrivelling at the bottom, give them a drink overnight or early in the morning- the potting mix will dry out by the time the sun gets hot again. But, if you can, watch the video- i'll release by tomorrow.
