Just tried to have this conversation with mine. Her response was "one bad apple don't make em all bad." I told her it wasn't about "jealousy" or "insecurity" but that it was simply about respect because if the shoe was on the other foot I know for a fact that there would be an issue. I am not married, I am single and free BUT I am celibate. And I use some rules with male friends, to safeguard my celibate and single life. First rule for me is just like for married people: never be alone one-on-one hanging out(not even car rides!); I never talk about relationships issues with them (if they have significant other); I don't accept or favor gifts; I don't hug. I just pick public places for hangouts, often with other people/friends involved AND we talk about specific areas of interest (arts,books/literature) rather than emotional problems that we have with our other friends or significant others, and if they do have significant others, they have to ALWAYS include/invite/ inform them to spend time with us together!

People need to hear this video . Opposite sex friends must be avoided in relationships. Your relationship with your spouse comes first any relationship that conflicts this must be ended . Also social media is very toxic for relationships.

An opposite sex "friend" will become the shoulder to cry on when things hit a rough patch in the marriage and then the devil will open up all the doors to infidelity and an affair. You're playing with fire by having "friends" of the opposite sex in the confines of marriage. I don't care if this approach sounds old school or if haters try and say to me that "you're just an abusive, insecure, jealous, controlling, manipulative person for doing this. Don't you trust your wife?" You bet I do, but I also know that very rarely does a man stay "friends" with a woman who he doesn't have feelings for. And worse of all I can't help but feel those opposite sex "friends" are just waiting in the wings licking their chops for their turns just hoping your marriage will fail. So you bet I see any of these opposite sex "friends" in the confines of a marriage as a threat. I'm about to hit my 30s and still waiting for God's timing to bless me with the wife he has in store for me in His time, but I for one will be making sure I have no other friends of the opposite sex in the picture at all except her. Can't risk any temptations like this. A Christian marriage needs to be guarded/defended like your life depends on it because it literally does. And that means sacrificing existing friendships with the opposite sex so the devil can't tempt you with infidelty and having an affair. Sadly most of my millennial generation doesn't seem to understand this concept.

I’m almost 26 and I never hear my peers, let alone anyone really, articulating things like this. But we all feel the same things. On such a deep level. Wow, you just described my marriage. My wife is a housewife and there is this neighbor that knows my wife loves small dogs , he knows it and guess what they discuss? Both relationships. What's interesting is my wife will not let me befriend that person's spouse and is very panicking when it comes to my arrival at home and the times. Thing is we should be having this conversation with our spouses but we all have a spouse that is afraid of having this conversation because they say it’s controlling. I don’t look at it as controlling but as being wise enough to know if you’ve ever been in a serious relationship we know how easy it is to become attracted to someone else and loose interest in your current partner. People act like little kids treating their partner like it’s a toy and when they get bored they want the new toy they saw at work or at the bar or at Starbucks. I had this conversation yesterday with my fiance hence being here we went of fun in a different city when we got there he had so may girlfriends they would hug while greeting eachother well I told him about how uncomfortable that made me and he said I can’t stop talking to my friends that I have known for years just because I am in a relationship with someone that broke my heart into pieces am I overreacting? The idea that your marriage is your primary relationship is a bit dangerous. My spouse is one of my best friends, and not the only one. However my other best friends are women. My relationship with my family is also very important to me. IMO it is very harmful to think your spouse is your only friend.

Easy solution to avoid all of this...if your married don't have opposite sex friends. At least never have opposite sex friends you ever spent alone time with or have private communications with.
