You can buy a cheap syringe, fill it with BT, then inject the base of the stem. Works great, it very quick to treat with no mess, & uses very little.

Excellent video. Great information. I love the time I spend in my garden. Every day, I try to spend at least 1/2 hour there. Usually it is much longer. Sometimes I like to just sit there and look and plan what more I want to do.

Hi, Love your growing zucchini plants vertically video. I am going to try and grow zucchini in a greenhouse and need to take up less space. I am growing zucchini for the flowers. I dont want to reduce my flower production. Will pruning this way reduce my flower production vs. letting them grow out vines and get large? Thanks!

What a great video. I’m going to prune my zucchini this evening and this time I’ll make sure to cut off right by the end of the stems and not the in the middle of the leaves.

Sorry also wondering... The nylon netting is enough to hold up large fruiting tomato plants even? Or do you find the nylon sags or pulls down at all?

Thank s for sharing! I was concerned the markings on the leaves were powdering mildew-so I chopped off a few too many! Luckily, they’re growing back now. My zucchini are growing 3/4 inches long, then the flowers drop off and they rot. Thank you for reassuring me that’s totally normal and there will be plenty more to come 🙏
@rileysgarden8153
@rileysgarden8153 3 года назад
Keeley, just make sure that your plant is getting even watering (not drying out completely before you water again) and everything should be just fine. Let us know how things progress and if you're still having issues in a few weeks.

@@rileysgarden8153 Thanks Riley! Yes, will do. I water every day (we are in Wales, UK) I think I was overwatering initially, so I water slightly less each day now.) I’m battling with the slugs here-so will try beer and see how that goes x

Nice video! I grew Dunja last season, and they did well before the SVB got em. And I just sowed more a few days ago. Can't wait to get em in the ground and get some mesh over them as well as shade cloth. Not sure if I'll be doing a video on it though! I'll definitely be following along though.👌🏼

What direction are your trellis orientated? Noticed you have tomatoes on the back of the bed and zucchini in front so I'm assuming the side supports are on the east and west side of th bed?

Can you still pick the small zucchini for eating that have lost their flowers as long as they don't look like they are rotting? Also, if you pick a female flower will it kill the zucchini or stop it from growing?

Can the BT be used on cabbage? I get slugs and worms every time I try
@rileysgarden8153
@rileysgarden8153 3 года назад
Hi Danielle, Bt will control the cabbage worms but would not be effective against slugs. You can try a saucer of beer to attract the slugs away from your cabbage plants, however, I don’t grow cabbage so I’ve never validated that method. Does anyone else have a slug control method that will help Danielle?

Ive got loads of flowers, massive plants but no fruit. I was told I may have a male plant. Is this possible?
@rileysgarden8153
@rileysgarden8153 3 года назад
Jim, The male flowers will be on a long thin stem and the female flowers on a short thick stem that will become a zucchini when pollinated. If you have extremely hot weather now this may be why your female flowers are not being pollinated or why you are only seeing male flowers. If you have both female and male flowers, go out very early in the morning when those female flowers are still open and gently shake the plant to pollinate the female flowers. Hope that helps.

@reneebrown2968
@reneebrown2968 Год назад
@@rileysgarden8153 not a matter of cool or not, just fit and usability. They are not tight enough on your hands and finger dexterity is shit in them. That's why I would rather pay 10$ on a good fitting pair of soft leather gloves. You can also find them in the automotive section of a store. I love mine because I can garden in them without breaking and fumbling around, and can work my bee hives as well without squishing my bees and making a mess of the frames. They are also a good investment because soft leather can last decades if you take care of it.
