I've been watching world class boxing drills,, outstanding, how Tom explains the footwork and Technic,, learned a lot,,great drills to work on in the gym,,,like the knowledge behind the skill,,,
Does Danny fight amateur anywhere? I'd love to see that or a sparring session. I'm always impressed with the crispness of his form. Thanks again coach for all you've shown us!
Coach Y - I’m always impressed that you strive for perfection in your drills with Danny. It’s those good habits in training that carry over into the ring when it’s all on the line. Thank you both for another fine video.
Coming forward, while blocking very effective. Your jamming the opponents attack. Don't over use it opponent might catch on and take a pivot or sidestep. Coach yankello your teaching inspires so many ppl and myself.
Just a reminder for anyone that does not have a coach because of the pandemic, the instructional videos on his website are worth every cent and a great chance to go back to the roots and practise✌🏻
0:35 2 blocks and weave with moving 1:00 time 1:05 its 14 steps 1:40.block vs rolling punch( block he can recoil faster than the roll when he fall into me so I can counter with bafk hnd ) This iz why I step with block to get closer 3:25 weave taking back step back 3:40 again 14 steps 4:00 foot puch land same time 5:30.extend punches more (after the blocks) 5:55 extending rt hnd whole body (Droping hips into the punch ) 6:20 try keep.everything tight(not arm punching / body doing the work) 6:55 more power on block shots 7:25 short little steps not too wide 7:45 punching back with power in strsight line and ko 8:20 keeping short steps 8:40 shadow box the drill too ( practice footwork)
Not picking fault as Danny's much better than me, but could he be even better if he turned the right foot when punching with the right hand at full speed as he does at slow speed? I see a lot of people say to do some technique a certain way but at fight speed the technique changes. I imagine this is because turning the right foot each time takes more time and effort as he would need to replant the right foot to push off each time for the next left punch unless he pushed off the toes. So in cases like this is it better to be as technically accurate as possible as Danny is doing without being overly critical or would it be possible to do it even better? MT
Q: I have issues with breath control and get gassed fast sometimes when working combos on the bags. In other sports you learn breathing techniques but where I'm at, it doesn't seem important. I can't accept that and don't believe it. Breath control can protect you from getting the wind knocked out of you in a gut punch to the diaphragm, even if it still hurts it's not as bad as if you didn't expel your air first. That's easy with one punch, but six to eight? So when your fighter it's throwing those combos, are they holding their breaths till they throw the last punch, or exhanging air on each punch, or expelling before throwing the first?? Sorry of this question seems mundane/basic/lame, but I think it does matter (for me anyway). What do you tell your beginners to do with breath control, (if anything, and you'd be the FIRST trainer I've come across who doesn't blow the question off or say"figure it out" - because they don't actually know 🙄).
You must breathe out a little with every single punch making a shhh sound each time helps to not expel too much air. Practice on a heavy bag hitting the bag 8 times fast by taking 1 deep breath and then make 8 very short shh sounds out as you do each punch. As you get better at it you can build up to 20 consecutive punches with 1 out breath and 20 shhh's.. You can do this out breath thru the mouth or with practice thru the nose but obviously no shhh sound if thru the nose. To count 20 punches when starting out and not too fast it's easier to count in 4's or 8's (due to rhythm) so 12345678123456781234 = 20.. When it gets faster count every right hand (which is the 2nd 4th etc punch when starting with a left hand punch) and count 1234123412 = 20. Hope this helps. Coach Y please correct if not 100% MT.
Coach I'm confused on footwork for an Orthodox boxer. When going to the left jab while stepping to the left is understood. In this video you jab also while stepping backwards with the left foot. In another video on the jab you teach you jab when the right foot lands while going backward and in the same video while stepping to the right you jab when the right foot lands. Is there a video where all this stepping and puching is more simplified? I'm seeing contradictions where you say punch lands when foot lands.
@@WorldClassBoxingChannel Wow Thanks for the quick reply You and Tony Jeffries are my defacto coaches and got me into boxing training at 51 to recover from Covid. Thanks again so much for your free instructional videos.
