The trouble I've run into is when I screw the baseplate into the level it doesn't sit flush tight against the bottom of the level and so there is some play in it. Then when I lock it into the tripod the level can rock back and forth because the baseplate isn't flush. Tried two different tripods, now wondering if it is the level or is that just how lasers normally sit on a tripod as long as it self levels. First laser level ever owned.

So the explanation on how to get a "self-leveling" laser level, is to place it on something that's already level. What if the only place that you can put the level on, isn't level to start, such as placing it on a ladder step that's on an uneven floor? Will the self leveling level, level itself out so anything placed along that line is level, or will it be unlevel and parallel with the floor that's uneven also?

Luser1973, you are correct but that is for standard nonmoving laser levels. This one has a balanced internal laser that sways + and - within the allowed four degrees...it will self level. If you have the it leaning more to left or right the laser cannot self level. Just think of the center or a seesaw...the center of the laser is the seesaw pivot point. The laser line is created from that center. If the laser housing is more than the allowed 4 degrees + or - , just like a seesaw...the laser pivot point will touch the laser housing not allowing movement.

I'd like to see you post about circuit requirements for 50 amp level 2 car charger. I am hearing conflicting info for hardwire installation - 70 amp / #4 wire looks like code for load, but one charger vendor and some others say 60 amp #6 is sufficient because it is "like a hardwired welder" ??? Chargepoint has table of requirements saying 70 - 80 amps, but they actually make their unit with lugs that cannot be used for anything bigger than #6 (?).

depends on what you're feeding: if the charger is hardmounted on the wall, vs a plug&cord one...

also some chargers will have better overload protection than others, different charging profiles, etc... buy a quality one! it also depends on what you're charging: does it take longer than 3 hours at max amps?

that "70-80" amps might just be a peak load. it's worth getting your local electrician involved!
